Early-life: Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio was born in Los Angeles on November 11, 1974. His mother was a legal secretary and his father is a comic book writer. Leonardo's parents divorced when he was a year old and he lived mostly with his mother. His first taste of professional acting was in commercials when he was a teenager. In 1990, he landed a role in a short-lived TV version of the movie Parenthood. He went on to have small parts on several shows, including The New Lassie, Roseanne and Santa Barbara.
Career: DiCaprio made his film debut in direct-to-video comedy sci-fi horror Critters 3 in 1991. Shortly after, he had a recurring role on the sitcom Growing Pains. Early-life: Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis was born in London, on April 29, 1957. He's the son of poet Cecil Day-Lewis and actress Jill Balcon. His sister, Tamasin, has hosted her own TV cookery show. His grandfather, Michael Balcon, was the head of the famous Ealing Studios. Daniel was educated at private schools Sevenoaks and Bedales. His film debut was as a teen vandal in 1971's Sunday Bloody Sunday. He was turned down for a cabinet-maker's apprenticeship before he started studying acting at the Bristol Old Vic School.
Career: Day-Lewis concentrated on theatre work with the Bristol Old Vic and Royal Shakespeare Company. He had a small role in the movie Gandhi in 1982. He followed it with The Bounty (1984), My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) and A Room with a View (1985). The Unbearable Lightness of Being turned him into a sex symbol in 1988. A year later he won an Oscar for My Left Foot. The Last of the Mohicans (1992), The Age of Innocence (1993), In the Name of the Father (1993) and The Crucible (1996) were also successful. Day-Lewis then took a five-year break from acting, before returning in 2002's Gangs of New York. He's since made The Ballad of Jack and Rose (2005), and won Oscars for There Will Be Blood (2007) and Lincoln (2012).

Early-life: Cameron Michelle Diaz was born on August 30, 1972, in San Diego, the daughter of a Cuban-American father and an Anglo-German mother. She has an older sister called Chimene. Cameron began modelling at 16 and for the next five years lived in such varied locations as Japan, Australia, Mexico, Morocco, and Paris. Returning to California at the age of 21, she was still modelling when she auditioned for a part in The Mask. To her amazement and despite having no previous acting experience, she was cast as the female lead opposite Jim Carrey.
Career: Over the next three years, she honed her acting skills in such low-budget independent films as The Last Supper, Feeling Minnesota, and Head Above Water. She returned to mainstream films in My Best Friend's Wedding, in which she held her own against veteran actress Julia Roberts. She earned full-fledged star status in 1998 for her performance in the box office smash There's Something About Mary. Since then she's had top billing in such smashes as Charlie's Angels, Gangs of New York and Knight and Day, provided the voice of Princess Fiona in the Shrek movies and TV specials and gained critical acclaim for her performance in Being John Malkovich. Early-life: William John Neeson was born on June 7, 1952, in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. He made his acting debut at 11 in a school play. He was a good teenage amateur boxer, winning the Irish Youth Championship, but quit after blacking out following a fight. Neeson later enrolled at St Mary's Teaching College in Belfast, but became interested in acting on joining the Belfast Lyric Players' Theatre. He made ends meet with various odd jobs, including forklift operator, truck driver and assistant architect, before stardom beckoned.
Career: Neeson's professional debut was on stage in The Risen People. He was spotted in a play at Dublin's Abbey Theatre by director John Boorman, who cast him in movie Excalibur in 1981. He made a name for himself in Krull, A Woman of Substance, Ellis Island and The Mission. Other leading roles came in Suspect, The Dead Pool and The Big Man. However, he didn't become a major star until Schindler's List in 1993. Since then he's featured in Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace, Gangs of New York, Love Actually, Kinsey and the brilliant action film Taken. He was also seen in the big-screen version of The A Team and has several blockbusters in the pipeline.

Early-life: Born May 24, 1949, in Lincoln, the youngest of three children. Father Roy was a furniture maker, who also renovated a Methodist chapel, turning it into a theatre, which was renamed the Broadbent Theatre after his death in 1971. Mother Dee was a sculptress and a keen amateur thespian. Jim attended a Quaker boarding school in Reading and, after passing his A-levels, attended art college. His heart lay in acting and he later transferred to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Career: Broadbent caught the eye of casting directors following Illuminatus in 1976, a 12-hour sci-fi production. He worked with the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company and as the National Theatre of Brent, a two-man comedy troupe he co-founded with Patrick Barlow. Despite originally turning down the role of Del Boy, he played bent copper Roy Slater in Only Fools and Horses. Bigger parts came in the 1990s, in such projects as Life Is Sweet, Bullets Over Broadway, Richard III and Topsy-Turvy. Early-life: Brendan Gleeson was born in Dublin on 29 March, 1955. From a very young age, he loved to read classical texts, including Irish play writers such as Samuel Beckett. This love led to him performing in his school production of 'Waiting for Godot', and determined to pursue acting as a career.. He spent several years on the stage, while working as a teacher, then, at the age of 35, decided to audition for films in the UK.
Career: Gleeson's classical acting skills gained the attention of Mel Gibson and he was cast in Braveheart (1995). Since then he has been in a huge variety of films, such as Mission: Impossible II (2000), Lake Placid (1999), The General (1998) and Gangs of New York (2002). He proved his was in the A-league when he was cast in the Harry Potter films and has several leading man roles to his name, including the popular crime caper, In Bruges.

Early-life: John Christopher Reilly was born on May 24, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised Roman Catholic, although he no longer practices the religion, and attended Brother Rice High School. John studied at DePaul University.
Career: Reilly's film debut was in Casualties of War (1989), where director Brian De Palma was so impressed by his acting that he recast him from a small role to a major role. Reilly appeared in a string of films in the 90s, including What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), Boogie Nights (1997) and Magnolia (1999). Since then, he has widened his repertoire, appearing in dramatic films like We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011), comedies like Step Brothers (2008) and the musical Chicago (2002). He also voiced the lead character, Ralph, in Wreck-It Ralph (2012).
