South Africa to Zanzibar — Indian Ocean with Simon Reeve
Adventurer Simon Reeve sets out to travel around the coastline of the Indian Ocean, journeying by boat, car, train and plane as he takes in 16 countries. He starts on the tip of South Africa, where he dives with ragged-tooth sharks and joins conservationists helping to save the endangered African penguin, before heading into Cape Town, where he has a close encounter with a drug dealer. Moving on, he hitches a boat to Mozambique, where a nervous captain reveals the threat posed by Somali pirates, and completes this leg of his journey in Zanzibar, a tropical island steeped in the long history of the slave trade

The adventurer's epic journey continues on the coast of Madagascar, where he goes spearfishing with the Vezo people, whose lifestyle is under threat from their own rapid population growth. On Mauritius, he visits slums that show a different side to the tourist paradise, and he ends this leg in the Seychelles, meeting an Englishman who is turning his private island into the world's smallest national park. Simon also joins the Dutch Special Forces, training to board pirate ships operating on the high seas

Kenya to Somaliland — Indian Ocean with Simon Reeve
The third leg of the adventurer's journey takes him from the south of Kenya to the Horn of Africa. Along the way he joins a Ugandan peace-keeping force in Mogadishu, the capital of war-torn Somalia, which turns out to be the most dangerous leg of his journey as he ends up under fire on the front line. In contrast, he finds neighbouring Somaliland a stable and democratic home to thousands of Somalis fleeing fighting and famine. In Kenya's Tana Delta, he meets villagers facing eviction from an area that the government is turning over to sugar cane production for bio-fuels
