Catherine Southon and Phil Serrell travel from Great Baddow to Manningtree in a 1965 Mercedes 220 SE, seeking bargains on the Essex coast. Phil hopes a restored contraption will generate a profit then travels back in time to the 1920s to learn about early radio. He's amazed by the humble building where a maverick radio engineer became the world's first DJ and pioneered the concept of light entertainment. Catherine picks up items as diverse as some Indian advertising memorabilia and a silver and rose-gold ticker. The final round in their best-of-five auction battles then beckons
