Nick Knowles travels to Swansea to meet 15-year-old Jack, who suffers from a rare form of muscular dystrophy that has led to a lifetime of painful operations. His mother Helen and older brother Daniel do all they can to help but as he grows it has become impossible to get him upstairs and now he has to sleep in the living room, leaving the rest of the family with nowhere to socialise. Having heard of their plight, the DIY SOS team turns up to transform their three-bedroom semi, backed up by an army of local tradespeople, with designer Gabrielle Blackman on hand to ensure they don't stray too far from her vision
