Nick Knowles travels to Derby to meet Rachel and Andy Smith, whose middle child Isaac has a severe form of cerebral palsy. The couple must be available at all times because Isaac sleeps in a hospital bed in the living room, but this is making life difficult for his siblings as their home design is in conflict with what the family really need. Having heard of their plight, the DIY SOS team arrives to help, backed up by an army of local tradespeople - with designer Julia Kendall making sure they do not stray too far from her vision
