When Paul's car-boot sale fail to bring in any money, the Jessops are delighted to be offered a free family meal by Alf, Sue's new boyfriend, at his Italian restaurant. While Sue plies the family with food from Alf's kitchen, and Rachel starts Italian evening classes, Paul and Sam agree to help Robin learn more about Cherry's new estate agent boyfriend, by going undercover. By the time the big family meal rolls around, however, Alf begins to suspect that Sue is more interested in feeding her family and friends than she is in him, and Paul is put on the spot by Iain's estate agent colleague

Paul resumes learning to drive in time for the family holiday, as suggested by newly single Robin - just as Rachel learns that Amy has packed in her plan to go to university to be with Maya. On holiday in Scotland, some while later, with Paul still unable to drive, Robin reveals that he took the family there in order to intercept Cherry the day before her wedding, and the members begin to squabble. Just as everything looks hopeless for the Jessops, Paul is forced step in for an over-the-limit Rachel to keep the family holiday on the road and provide them all with a renewed optimism for the future

With the new year fast approaching, Rachel is keen to throw a massive party, although Paul would much rather the family welcomed in 2026 in a quiet holiday cottage - preferably one with a sauna so he can sweat out the massive boil on his cheek. Cue a typically chaotic Jessop holiday, involving a road trip, a missing dummy and a large crate of unlicensed fireworks picked up at a police auction. Festive special of the comedy, starring Katherine Parkinson and Jim Howick, with Alison Steadman, Tom Basden and Freya Parks

Amy returns home for the festive holidays, so Rachel resolves to engineer an absolutely classic Jessop family Christmas - featuring stockings, presents, church, turkey, King's speech, charades and more. All should be great - providing that everyone sticks precisely to the schedule. Comedy, starring Alison Steadman, Katherine Parkinson and Freya Parks
