The newsreader goes on a journey around the continent, meeting up with old friends, having new adventures and tracing the story of his own ancestry. Clive kicks off his adventure in South Africa, where he worked as a BBC correspondent 20 years ago, visiting Soweto, which lies just outside Johannesburg. His old BBC colleague Milton Nkosi introduces him to Ndileka Mandela, activist granddaughter of Nelson Mandela, the man who inspired Clive to become a journalist, and they talk over a traditional spicy South Africa lunch of chakalaka

He also visits a surf school teaching homeless and disadvantaged kids to surf - and to transform their lives
