In the first of two special programmes originally shown to celebrate the centenary of Dylan Thomas's birth, Derek Brockway strolls around the poet's home town of Swansea. Accompanied by actor Adrian Metcalfe, Derek sets off from Dylan's childhood home on Cwmdonkin Drive and walks through the city's parks and down to the seafront, before visiting some of the writer's haunts in later life. He then heads west to the Llansteffan peninsula where his guide, artist Osi Rhys Osmond, leads him through the countryside that was home to many of Dylan's relatives. Jeff Towns, chairman of the Dylan Thomas Society, joins Derek to explain how Thomas was inspired to write some of his greatest work during this era. For his final walk, to Laugharne, the presenter is accompanied by Thomas's grandaughter Hannah Ellis, who reveals the significance of the town to both her grandparents and her family today
