Early-life: Alyssa Jayne Milano was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 19, 1972. She grew up on Staten Island. Her father is a film music editor, her mother a fashion designer. Her brother, Cory, is also an actor. At the age of seven, she won a part in Annie after accompanying her babysitter, an aspiring dancer, who was auditioning for a role in the show. Afterwards, she tackled off-Broadway roles and appeared in commercials.
Career: Milano's big break came in 1984 when she was cast as Tony Danza's daughter in the sitcom Who's the Boss? Her family then relocated to Hollywood. Her movie debut came the same year in Old Enough, and she's worked steadily ever since, in projects such as The Canterville Ghost, Where the Day Takes You, Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star, and Melrose Place. She was also the model for Ariel in Disney's Little Mermaid. Playing one of a trio of attractive young witches in Charmed brought her international fame.
