Early-life:
Joshua Lee Holloway was born in San Jose, California, on July 20, 1969, but grew up in Free Home, Georgia, after his family moved there when he was two years old. The second eldest of four brothers, he became hooked on movies as a youngster. On graduating from high school he enrolled at the University of Georgia. After a year's study, Josh dropped out and became a successful male model, a job which enabled him to travel the world.
Career:
On deciding he wanted to be an actor, Holloway moved to Los Angeles. Early roles came in Aerosmith's video for their song Cryin', and the film Cold Heart (2001). He also had a small part in an episode of Angel. He first came to prominance in the US thanks to the TV movie Sabretooth in 2002. Other projects around this time included the films Moving August (2002), Mi Amigo (2002) and Doctor Benny (2003), and series such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Walker, Texas Ranger, The Lyon's Den and NCIS. But it was playing Sawyer in mega-hit Lost which turned him into a household name. He starred in 116 episodes between 2004 and 2010. Since then, he has starred in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011), Paranoia (2013) and Sabotage (2014). In 2014, he played a lead character in short-lived action TV series Intelligence.
