Patrick Swayze (Actor) .. Garth
Born: August 18, 1952 in Houston, Texas
Best Known For: Dirty Dancing.
Early-life: Patrick Wayne Swayze was born in Houston, Texas, on August 18, 1952, to Jesse and Patsy Swayze. He had a younger brother, Don. A naturally gifted dancer, Patrick studied at Harkness Ballet School, the Joffrey Ballet School, and San Jacinto College. His first professional performance was as a dancer in Disney on Parade. A role in a Broadway production of Grease led to his film debut in 1979 as Ace in Skatetown, USA.
Career: Following small parts in TV movies, Swayze landed a role in Francis Ford Coppola's drama The Outsiders alongside other then unknowns, including Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon and Emilio Estevez. Its success brought him to the attention of other directors. In 1987 he became an overnight global sensation thanks to Dirty Dancing. Road House, Next of Kin, Ghost and Point Break followed, but by the early 1990s, his career had slowed down. His last films included Donnie Darko, Waking Up in Reno, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Keeping Mum, and Powder Blue. Swayze was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in January 2008. He spent time at the London Oratory Grammar School, and also had a stint on the African continent, between the ages of nine and 12. His mother, who had once enjoyed an affluent lifestyle, attempted to cover up the family's poor economic status by making sure her son's diction was perfect.
Career: Following spells at Belfast's Queen's University and London's Drama Centre, Callow worked in the Old Vic's box office after being recommended for the post by Laurence Olivier. Acclaimed stage roles followed, as did several small parts in such TV shows as The Sweeney and Carry On Laughing! He had the lead in 1984 sitcom Chance in a Million, and made his film debut the same year in Amadeus. Since then he's continued to appear regularly on stage and TV. Michael Clarke Duncan (Actor) .. Tarik
Born: December 10, 1957 in Chicago
Best Known For: The Green Mile.
Early-life: Michael Clarke Duncan was born on December 10th, 1957. He was raised by his single mother on Chicago's South Side - a notorious community. He resisted drugs and alcohol, instead concentrating on school. He wanted to play football in high school, but his mother wouldn't let him, fearing he would get hurt - despite his enormous bulk. He then turned to acting, dreaming of becoming a Hollywood star. After graduating from high school and attending community college, he worked digging ditches at Peoples Gas Company in Chicago. When he quit his job and headed to Hollywood, he landed small roles while working as a bodyguard for the likes of Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J and the Notorious B.I.G. He let a friend take over for him the night Notorious B.I.G. was shot, which prompted him to quit that line of work.
Career: Duncan's role in the movie Armageddon (1998) led to his breakthrough performance in The Green Mile (1999) when his Armageddon co-star Bruce Willis called director Frank Darabont, suggesting Michael for the part of convict John Coffey. He received critical acclaim for his performance. That led to several other key parts including a role alongside Willis in The Whole Nine Yards, and box-office successes in Daredevil and The Scorpion King. He went on to star in Sin City, The Island, School for Scoundrels, Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, and Delgo. He suffered a heart attack in July 2012 and remained hospitalised for several weeks. He died on September 3, 2012, at the age of 54.
