Part one of two. A friend of DCS Walker, the well-known paediatric surgeon Jonathan Carlisle, is found dead. When Connor investigates, she discovers a recent operation performed by the doctor resulted in a girl's death and that the surgeon had a restraining order issued against her grieving father. A game of cat and mouse ensues to find the prime suspect - leading to a tense face-off at the zoo. John Lynch, Benedict Taylor and Ben Miles guest star

David Hayman (Actor) .. Chief Supt Michael Walker
Born: February 09, 1948 in Glasgow, Scotland
Best Known For: Playing Chief Superintendent Michael Walker in Trial and Retribution.
Early-life: Born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 9, 1948. He studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow before starting his acting career at the city's Citizens Theatre. He began to get recognised nationally after starring in A Sense of Freedom (1981).
Career: Hayman's film credits include Sid and Nancy (1986), Hope and Glory (1987) and The Jackal (1997). Between 1997 and 2009, he played Chief Superintendent Michael Walker in the TV crime drama Trial and Retribution. As well as acting, Hayman has also directed film and television productions, including Silent Scream (1990) and The Hawk (1993). More recently, he was cast as Brace in the television series Taboo.
Quote: "There's a lot of my industry I'm very disenamoured with. Like the world, television is run on greed and ego. It's not creative integrity, and that wears thin after a while."
Trivia: He founded the humanitarian charity Spirit Aid.
Victoria Smurfit (Actor) .. DCI Roisin Connor

Trivia: Smurfit is a patron of children's charity World Vision Ireland.

Early-life: Victoria was born in Dublin in 1974. Her family, headed by her uncle Michael, is one of the richest in Ireland. Victoria was educated at Saint Columbia's College, Dublin, and St George's School, Ascot. After completing an A Level in theatre studies, she studied acting at the Bristol Old Vic theatre school.
Career: In 1997, Smurfit starred in BBC miniseries Ivanhoe, and a year later, she appeared in another period drama, Berkeley Square, before making a name for herself as Orla O'Connell in Ballykissangel. After two series of the BBC drama, the year 2000 saw Smurfit star on the big screen in The Wedding Tackle and The Beach and on the small screen in drama North Square and comedy Cold Feet. Her other credits include About a Boy (2002), Bulletproof Monk (2003), the lead role on TV in Trial & Retribution between 2003 and 2009, and Irish drama The Clinic. More recently, Smurfit has been playing glamorous society queen and vampire slayer Lady Jayne Wetherby in TV horror drama Dracula.

Early-life: Born Benjamin Miles in Wimbledon in 1967, Ben began acting in school productions to get out of maths and English lessons. Later, he went on to train at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Career: During the 1990s, Miles played a steady stream of supporting roles in a number of TV series such as Soldier Soldier, Is It Legal?, Wonderful You, The Bill, Peak Practice, Cold Feed and Holby City. His big break came in 2000 when he landed the role of Patrick in BBC sitcom Coupling. Other TV credits include The Forsyte Saga, Prime Suspect 6: The Last Witness, Freezing, Lark Rise to Candleford, The Promise, and The Suspicions of Mr Whicher: The Murder at Road Hill House. More recently, he has been starring in horror drama Dracula.

Trivia: Away from acting, Miles enjoys playing the guitar and drums.

Best Known For: A number of stage and TV roles.
Early-life: Harriet Jane Morahan was born in London in 1978. Her father is TV director Christopher Morahan and her mother is actress Anna Carteret. Her older sister, Rebecca, is a theatre director. Hattie went on to study English at Cambridge University. While at Cambridge, she directed and appeared in student productions, including A View from the Bridge. She made her professional debut at the age of 17 in two-part BBC drama The Peacock Spring.
Career: Morahan joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2001 and made her RSC debut in Love in a Wood. In an extensive stage career, she has starred in Hamlet, Arsenic and Old Lace, Singer, Twelfth Night, The Family Reunion, A Doll's House and The Real Thing. Her TV credits include Sense and Sensibility, New Tricks, Outnumbered, Lewis, Eternal Law, Midsomer Murders and The Bletchley Circle. She made her big-screen debut in The Golden Compass (2007).
