Rick boards the ferry in Penzance to take him to the Isles of Scilly, where he learns about the islands' rich history, including one of the Royal Navy's worst shipping disasters in which 1500 men lost their lives. Later, he meets a beekeeper who is attempting to breed a native Scillonian honeybee who can deal with the harsh Atlantic climate, which inspires Rick to cook a honey pudding with Cornish ice-cream and a butterscotch sauce

Born: January 04, 1947 in Oxfordshire
Best Known For: His expertise with fish dishes.
Early-life: Born in Oxfordshire on January 4, 1947. He went to catering college and then travelled the world. He worked on a German cargo ship and an Australian railway before returning to read English at New College, Oxford. He later moved to Padstow, where he had spent many childhood holidays. Stein opened a nightclub in the Cornish town in 1974, but soon transformed it into a cafe, then a restaurant, and went on to specialise in seafood cooking.
Career: In 1984, Stein's The Seafood Restaurant was voted Egon Ronay Restaurant of the Year. As his star continued to rise, close friend Keith Floyd put his name forward as a natural for TV. Stein became a popular presenter with a number of cookery series for the BBC including Rick Stein's Taste of the Sea, Fruits of the Sea, Food Heroes, and French Odyssey. His last culinary tour involved a trip to Spain and was broadcast in 2011. He has also found time to present a documentary on novelist Daphne du Maurier and acted as a contributor on Grumpy Old Men.

Trivia: Stein owns four restaurants in Padstow, as well as various other ventures. His impact on the local economy is such that the town has reportedly been nicknamed 'Padstein'.
