Early-life:
Rebecca Alie Romijn was born in Berkeley, California, on November 6, 1972, to Jaap Romijn and Elizabeth Kuizenga. She attended Berkeley High School and the University of California at Santa Cruz, where she studied music. However, she left in 1995 to pursue a modelling career.
Career:
Following several episodes of Just Shoot Me!, Romijn was cast as the exotic Mystique in X-Men (2000). That helped turn her into a hot Hollywood property, although follow-up project S1m0ne (2002) (in which she was uncredited) flopped. After X2 (2003), she went on to appear in a string of movies, including The Punisher (2004), Godsend (2004), The Alibi (2006), Man About Town (2006) and X Men: The Last Stand (2006). Her TV show Pepper Dennis was axed after just one season, but she was soon snapped up to appear in the more successful Ugly Betty. More recently, she has starred in Eastwick and short-lived drama King & Maxwell. In August 2014, she began hosting body painting reality show Skin Wars.
