Career: Adlington represented Great Britain in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and won gold medals in the 400m and 800m freestyle events. She was the first British woman to win a swimming gold since 1960 and the first British swimmer since 1908 to win more than one gold medal. She went on to win two gold medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and two bronze medals at the London 2012 Olympics. She retired from competitive swimming in February 2013. Despite only being 23, she felt she was no longer able to compete with younger swimmers. She currently participates in a schools programme called Becky Adlington's SwimStars that aims to encourage children between three and a half and 11 years to take up swimming. In 2013, she was a contestant on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! In early 2016, she was a contestant on Channel 4's sporting reality show The Jump.
