Thomas Cruise Mapother IV was born in New York on July 3, 1962. His mother was a teacher, his father, whom Cruise later described as "abusive", was an electrical engineer. He has three sisters. Cruise spent part of his childhood in Canada before returning to the US after his parents separated. While at high school, Tom caught the acting bug and abandoned his plans to enter the priesthood. At the age of 18, he returned to New York, where he landed his first film role in Endless Love.
Career:
Within five years of his big-screen debut, Cruise was one of the hottest actors of his generation, having starred in the likes of Risky Business and Top Gun. The likes of Rain Man, The Color of Money, Interview with the Vampire and Days of Thunder followed. He has also turned his hand to producing and made the smart move of taking a share of several of his film's profits, making him one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. Recent hits include Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Jack Reacher, Oblivion and Edge of Tomorrow. He has been Oscar-nominated three times, for his performances in Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire and Magnolia, but has yet to win. His next major film is Mission: Impossible 5.

Early-life:
Robert Selden Duvall was born on January 5, 1931, in San Diego, California. He is a direct descendent of Confederate General Robert E Lee. His father was an admiral, his mother was an actress. He has two brothers. After graduating from Principia College in Illinois, he enrolled in the US Army and saw combat in Korea. On being discharged, he studied drama at the Neighbourhood Playhouse in New York, during which time he became friends with Dustin Hoffman. The pair shared an apartment before finding fame.
Career:
Duvall's first professional work came on stage. His TV debut was in a 1959 episode of Armstrong Circle Theatre, while his first film was 1962's To Kill a Mockingbird. Other early movies were The Chase, Bullitt, True Grit and MASH. In 1972, he received his first Oscar nomination for The Godfather. Nominations since have been for Apocalypse Now, The Great Santini, The Apostle (which he also wrote and directed) and A Civil Action. He won the Best Actor award for Tender Mercies in 1983. Other films include The Godfather: Part II, Sling Blade, Open Range, Secondhand Lions, Thank You for Smoking, Crazy Heart and Get Low.

Richard Dale Jenkins was born in DeKalb, Illinois, on May 4, 1947 to dentist Dale and housewife Mary. He went on to study drama at Illinois Wesleyan University. He joined the Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island, and later served as its artistic director between 1990 and 1994. He made his debut in front of the camera in 1974 TV movie Feasting with Panthers.
Career:
Jenkins has enjoyed a long career, mostly in supporting roles. His film credits include Silverado (1985), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), The Witches of Eastwick (1987), How to Make an American Quilt (1995), There's Something About Mary (1998), Me, Myself and Irene (2000), Step Brothers (2008) and The Three Stooges (2012). He had a rare lead role in the critically acclaimed The Vistor (2007). His recent films include The Cabin in the Woods (2012), Jack Reacher (2012) and White House Down (2013). On the small screen, he had a recurring role in Six Feet Under.

Jai Stephen Courtney was born in Sydney on March 15, 1986 to Chris and Karen. He has an older sister. He attended Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
Career:
Courtney's early roles included guest spots in Australian TV series All Saints and Packed to the Rafters. His big break came in 2010, when he played Varro in sword-and-sandal drama Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Since then, he has largely worked on big-screen projects. His film credits include Jack Reacher (2012), A Good Day to Die Hard (2013), I, Frankenstein (2014), Felony (2014) and Divergent (2014).
