Early-life: Richard Henry Sellers was born in Portsmouth on September 8, 1925. In his parents' variety act, he made his stage debut in Southsea at the age of two weeks old. Peter got his first job at the age of 15 as a caretaker at the Victoria Palace Theatre in Illfracombe.
Career: During his theatre job, he developed his skills as a drummer and played with a number of touring bands. He became a member of the Entertainments National Service Association, which provided entertainment for British forces and factory workers during the Second World War. In 1943, Sellers joined the RAF and toured with Ralph Reader's RAF Gang Show troupe. In 1948, he landed a six-week run at the Windmill Theatre in London, providing a comedy turn in-between the nude shows. He made his TV debut in 1948 doing impressions on New to You, but his big break came on the radio in 1951 when he appeared in The Goon Show. The hugely popular series ran until 1960. He took on a number of small film roles in the 1950s until he was offered one of the main roles in Ealing comedy The Ladykillers (1955). Other films followed, including I'm All Right Jack, which became the highest grossing film at the British box office in 1960. Further success came in the 1960s with roles in Lolita (1962), The Pink Panther (1962), Dr Strangelove (1964), A Shot in the Dark (1964), What's New Pussycat (1965) and Casino Royale (1967). After a serious of poorly received films, he returned to his Inspector Clouseau character in box-office success The Return of the Pink Panther (1975). He followed this up in 1976 with The Pink Panther Strikes Again, and the Revenge of the Pink Panther in 1978. In 1979 he starred in the acclaimed films The Prisoner of Zenda and Being There. He died on July 24, 1980 at the age of 54.

Born: December 01, 1935 in New York
Best Known For: His comedy films.
Early-life: Born Allan Stewart Konigsberg on December 1, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York. His mother was a book-keeper, his father an engraver and waiter. He has a younger sister, Letty Aronson, who now produces his films. At 15 Allen began selling jokes to newspapers. Two years later, he adopted his stage name, and was already earning more money than his parents. On leaving school he enrolled at New York University, but dropped out after failing part of his film course.
Career: Allen grew tired of simply writing, and decided to try stand-up. He proved successful, then moved into films, both penning and appearing in What's New Pussycat? in 1965. Since then he's become one of the world's most prolific film-makers, writing, directing and starring in such movies as Manhattan, Mighty Aphrodite and Everyone Says I Love You. He's been nominated for a Best Screenplay Oscar 13 times, winning for Annie Hall and Hannah and Her Sisters. More recent hits include You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, Midnight in Paris, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and Blue Jasmine.

Best Known For: Being an acclaimed Hollywood actor.
Early-life: William Franklin Beedle Jr was born in Illinois on April 17, 1918. He father was an industrial chemist and his mother a teacher. The family moved to Pasadena, California, when William was three. In 1937, while studying chemistry at Pasadena Junior College, William was signed to a film contract by Paramount. His first starring role was in Golden Boy (1949).
Career: Holden went on to star in several minor pictures before serving in the United States Army Air Forces during the Second World War, where he acted in training films for the First Motion Picture Unit. His big break came when Billy Wilder cast him as screenwriter Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard (1950). The role earned Holden an Academy Award nomination. He went on to star in a number of acclaimed films, including Stalag 17 (1953), Sabrina (1954), Love is a Many-Splendored Thing (1955), The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957), The Wild Bunch (1969), The Towering Inferno (1974) and Network (1976). He won an Academy Award for Stalag 17, and a Primetime Emmy in 1974 for The Blue Knight. He died in his Santa Monica apartment on November 12, 1981 at the age of 63.
