After a mystery sea monster washes up on a UK beach, extreme angler Jeremy Wade sets off on a journey to unmask this beast and find out whether it poses any threat to humans. His journey takes him to London, where he digs for clues among celebrated naturalist Charles Darwin's historic specimens, to the frozen waters of Greenland, where he ice fishes deeper than he's ever fished before, and on to the fjords of Norway, where he attempts to reel in one of these sea monsters before an Arctic storm rolls in

Born: March 23, 1956 in Ipswich, Suffolk
Best Known For: Presenting River Monsters.
Early-life: Jeremy John Wade was born on March 23, 1956 in Ipswich, Suffolk and brought up in Nayland. He first became interested in fishing when he was a child, living near the River Stour. Jeremy got a degree in zoology from Bristol University and a postgraduate teaching certificate in biological sciences from the University of Kent.
Career: Wade took his first overseas fishing trip in 1982, visiting India's mountain rivers. When he returned to England, he wrote a couple of articles about his experiences for a fishing magazine. During another trip to India in 2005, he came up with the concept for the TV series River Monsters, which he has presented since 2009. His fishing adventures have seen him travel many times to the Congo and Amazon rain forests. Wade made his acting debut in the film Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys (2014), where he appeared as a lamprey expert.
Quote: 'The village where I grew up had a river flowing through it. So it was inevitable, I think, that I should be drawn to it - in the same way that people born in sight of Alpine peaks become climbers.'
Trivia: He is fluent in Portuguese and can also speak French and Spanish.
