Michael Brandon (Actor)
Born: April 20, 1945 in New York
Best Known For: Dempsey and Makepeace.
Early-life: Born Michael Feldman on April 20, 1945, into a working-class family from Brooklyn, New York. His father was a car mechanic. After leaving school, Brandon had several odd jobs, including one at a bakery. A model encouraged him to try acting, so he took courses at the Actors Studio. While convalescing following a spinal injury, he read Hamlet, which inspired him to study more seriously at the American Academy of Dramatic Art.
Career: Brandon made his professional debut alongside Al Pacino in a New York stage production of Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? His first TV appearance was in Medical Centre in 1969, while his debut movie, Lovers and Other Strangers, came a year later. Various small roles in films and TV shows such as Police Story, A Change of Seasons, Queen of the Stardust Ballroom, and St Elsewhere followed. He finally became a star when he was cast as a London-based US cop in Dempsey and Makepeace in 1985. When the series ended, he continued to work steadily in numerous projects, most notably West End hit Jerry Springer: The Musical. He's also appeared in Hustle, Episodes, Mr Selfridge and Captain America: The First Avenger. In August 2013, he teamed up with his wife, actress Glynis Barber, for ITV's dancing reality series Stepping Out.

Trivia: Brandon had a relationship with Hollywood star Kim Novak before marrying Bionic Woman actress Lindsay Wagner; they split three years later. He met Glynis Barber on the set of Dempsey and Makepeace. They wed in 1990 and have a son, Alexander, born in 1992.
Glynis Barber (Actor)
Born: October 25, 1955 in Durban, South Africa
Best Known For: Being the glamorous one in Dempsey and Makepeace.
Early-life: Born Glynis van der Reit on October 25, 1955, in Durban, South Africa. Aged five, following her parents' divorce, she moved to Johannesburg. Inspired by Hayley Mills' performance in The Parent Trap, she decided to become an actress. In her teens, she joined a speech and drama group and was so inspired by a tutor that she read Shakespeare's entire works in two weeks. Following her mother's death, she moved to London and studied at Mountview Theatre School. Glynis landed her first job at Chelmsford Rep.
Career: In the late 1970s, Glynis appeared in TV projects such as Terror, Play of the Month and Yesterday's Hero. In the early 1980s, The Sandbaggers, A Fine Romance and Blake's 7 boosted her profile. She landed the role that made her name in 1985 - Sgt Harriet Makepeace in Anglo-American hit Dempsey and Makepeace. She has since featured in Tales of the Unexpected, Babes in the Wood, The Bill, Doctors, Night & Day, Family Affairs, Emmerdale and EastEnders. Stage work has included Once in a Lifetime, Hamlet, Macbeth, Killing Time and The Graduate. In August 2013, she teamed up with her husband, actor Michael Brandon, for ITV's dancing reality series Stepping Out.

Elisabeth Sladen (Actor)
Born: February 01, 1948 in Liverpool
Best Known For: Doctor Who.
Early-life: Born February 1, 1948, in Liverpool. She was an only child, but despite her family having no showbusiness connections, she became interested in performing at an early age, and began ballet lessons at five. She continued training, eventually appearing in a Royal Ballet production, but her disappointment at failing to land leading roles prompted her to turn to acting. She spent two years at drama school, before returning to Liverpool to join the city's repertory company.
Career: Sladen travelled the country in various productions before settling in Manchester for three years. Her TV debut came in a 1970 Coronation Street episode. She then moved to London and had brief parts in numerous shows. Her big break came in 1973 when she was cast as the Time Lord's assistant, journalist Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who. She stayed with the programme for three years. She took part in various audio adventures and TV spin-off K-9 and Company. She returned to the series in 1983 for the 20th anniversary special The Five Doctors, and for a 2006 episode. A second spin-off, The Sarah Jane Adventures, established itself as a CBBC favourite. She died on April 19, 2011, at the age of 65.

Suzi Quatro (Actor)
Born: June 03, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan
Best Known For: A string of 1970s hits
Early-life: Susan Kay Quatrocchio was born June 3, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan to an Italian American father and a Hungarian mother. She grew up in the nearby suburb of Grosse Pointe and developed a love of music from an early age. Her sisters Patty, Nancy and Arlene were also keen musicians and the siblings worked together in bands the Pleasure Seekers and Cradle.
Career: After being discovered by record producer Mickie Most, Suzi moved to England in 1971. Her first single, Rolling Stone, failed to set the charts on fire, although it was a number one in Portugal. However, her follow-up, Can the Can, turned her into a household name. It hit the top of the charts in England and Australia, and paved the way for three more hits, 48 Crash, Daytona Demon and Devil Gate Drive. After a spell in the pop wilderness, she returned to the charts in 1978 with If You Can't Give Me Love, and a year later scored a US number 4 hit with Stumblin' In. TV appearances have included episodes of Happy Days, Minder, Dempsey & Makepeace, Absolutely Fabulous and Rock School. Currently presents Suzi Quatro's Heroes Of Rock 'n' Roll on BBC Radio 2.
