Season 1, Episode 1

Part one of two. New DS Charlie Zailer finds herself working with DC Simon Waterhouse for the first time when Geraldine Bretherick and her five-year-old daughter Lucy are found dead in the bathroom of their luxury home, and the two argue about whether the case is one of murder, suicide or something more sinister. Meanwhile, a woman tells her best friend she had an affair with Bretherick's husband and wants to see him again. Thriller, based on the novel Point of Rescue by Sophie Hannah, starring Olivia Williams, Darren Boyd, Rupert Graves and Amy Beth Hayes

Early-life: Darren John Boyd was born in Hastings on January 30, 1971. As a teenager, he began acting in amateur theatre and local productions.
Career: Darren moved to London in his mid-twenties when he was cast in the West End production of Les Miserables. His big break came in 1998 when landed a role in BBC sitcom Kiss Me Kate. This led to parts in Hippies, Smack the Pony, Watching Ellie, Green Wing, and Saxondale. He starred in short-lived comedy Whites before having more success playing John Cleese in Holy Flying Circus. His recent work includes sitcom Spy, crime drama Case Sensitive and miniseries The Guilty. He has appeared on the big screen in High Heels and Low Lifes (2002), Magicians (2007), Four Lions (2010), The World's End (2013) and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa (2013).
Quote: 'I'm not a comedian, I don't want to depend on a singular box of tricks. I like story and characters, to take on world views that are not my own.'
Trivia: He made one series of quirky sitcom Los Dos Bros for Channel 4 - it won a Silver Rose for Best Sitcom at the Montreux Festival in 2002. He won a Bafta for best male comedy role in 2012 for Spy.

Born: June 30, 1963 in Weston-super-Mare
Best Known For: Appearing in period dramas.
Early-life: Rupert Graves was born June 30, 1963, in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. The acting bug bit while performing in Victorian musical nights at the town's Birbeck Pier. Unhappy at school, he left at 15 to become a circus clown. He made his TV debut in 1978 in The Return Of The Saint and had small roles in various other productions. He later entertained children at holiday camps as part of Silly Billy Pickles And The Peanut Street Gang before his big break in Merchant Ivory's 1985 movie A Room With A View.
Career: Rejoined Merchant Ivory in 1987 to play a homosexual in Maurice, alongside James Wilby and Hugh Grant. The controversial role gained him fans of both sexes. He has tackled numerous challenging parts since, including a transvestite villain in Open Fire and the lover of a sex-change male in Different For Girls. He won the Best Actor award at the Montreal Film Festival for his part as a naive young man seduced by an older woman in Intimate Relations. Other notable productions include The Madness of King George, Mrs Dalloway, The Blonde Bombshell, Take A Girl Like You and Fortunes Of War. Graves has appeared on Broadway in Closer, and The Elephant Man. Has become a regular in a raft of top-notch detective shows, including Wallander, Lewis, and Sherlock and is very much in-demand.
Quote: 'I'm really pleased with myself. I've not had any training. I knew nothing about acting except that early on I knew I wanted to do it, and I've managed for years to do things without doing them just for the money.'

Amy Beth Hayes (Actor) .. Sally Thorne
Born: October 08, 1982 in Abergavenny in Wales
Best Known For: Mr Selfridge.
Early-life: Amy was born in Abergavenny in Wales on October 8, 1982 but grew up in Darlington. She was a member of the National Youth Theatre and went on to attend Keble College, University of Oxford, where she was an active member of Oxford University Dramatic Society. After graduating, she studied acting at London's Central School of Speech and Drama.
Career: Hayes made her TV debut in a 2008 episode of Doctor Who and in the same year she was cast in the lead role alongside Shane Ritchie in ITV drama Whatever It Takes. Since then, she has starred in TV movie Micro Men, Misfits, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Case Sensitive, Sirens and Black Mirror. More recently, she has had roles in The Syndicate, Lilyhammer and Mr Selfridge.
Quote: 'I hope I'm a versatile actress; it's not good to be cast as one thing.'
Trivia: Hayes needed tango lessons for a scene in Mr Selfridge.
Tom Goodman-Hill (Actor) .. Steve Harboard

Early-life: Tom was born in Enfield in 1968 and brought up near Newcastle upon Tyne. He studied drama and English at the University of Warwick and spent a year as a supply teacher in Coventry before moving to London to pursue a career as an actor.
Career: Goodman-Hill's TV credits include a number of TV movies and miniseries as well as recurring and guest star roles in such shows as Ideal, Midsomer Murders, Foyle's War, Waking the Dead, and Doc Martin. More recently, he has starred in The Devil's Whore, Moses Jones, Free Agents, Candy Cabs, Spy, Dead Boss and Mr Selfridge. He made his film debut in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003).

Early-life: Ralph Michael Ineson was born in Leeds on December 15, 1969. He took Theatre Studies at Lancaster University and spent time as a teacher at York Sixth Form College.
Career: Probably best known for his recurring role as Chris Finch in the sitcom The Office, Ineson has also starred in Playing the Field, Between the Sheets, Coronation Street, Suburban Shootout and Waterloo Road. More recently, he has starred in the miniseries Titanic, Game of Thrones, Case Sensitive, Prey and Peaky Blinders. A prolific character actor, he has more than 100 TV and film acting credits to his name.
