Marianne Faithfull (Actor)
Born: December 29, 1946 in London
Best Known For: Being Mick Jagger's ex-girlfriend.
Early-life: Marianne Evelyn Gabriel Faithfull was born on December 29, 1946, in Hampstead, London. She's the daughter of Eva, the Baroness Erisso, and Major Glynn Faithfull, who was a spy during the Second World War. She was educated at a convent school in Reading, and left home at 17 to move to central London. The Rolling Stones' manager Andrew Loog Oldham spotted her at a party and decided to turn her into a pop star. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote her first single, As Tears Go By, which reached the top 10.
Career: Faithfull enjoyed a few more hits, but her career was soon overshadowed by her relationship with Jagger. In the late 1960s she moved into acting, but her lifestyle took its toll on her work. Her drug problems worsened after splitting from Jagger in 1970, and she lived rough for two years, before making a comeback in 1979 with acclaimed album Broken English. She beat her drug habit in the 1980s. She continues to act and record, but in 2006 was diagnosed with breast cancer, from which she has now recovered. She's also published an autobiography called Faithfull and continues to tour and record.
Quote: 'Bad behaviour makes men more glamorous. Women get destroyed, thrown out of society and locked up in institutions.'
Trivia: The first time the F-word was spoken in a movie was by her in I'll Never Forget What's'isname (1967).
