Jim Caviezel (Actor) .. Edmond Dantes
Born: September 26, 1968 in Mount Vernon, USA
Best Known For: Playing Jesus Christ.
Early-life: Born James Patrick Caviezel Jr on September 26, 1968, in Mount Vernon, USA. His mother was a theatre actress, his father a chiropractor; Jim is the eldest of their five children. He claims his two major interests while growing up were sport and religion - his family are devout Roman Catholics. He had hoped to become a basketball player, but a foot injury ended his dream. He then turned his attention to acting, and made ends meet by modelling and waiting tables.
Career: Caviezel's first stage work came in Seattle, where he'd originally moved to play basketball. He had a small role in the film My Own Private Idaho in 1991 before relocating to Los Angeles. Parts in Wyatt Earp, Murder, She Wrote and The Wonder Years followed. His breakthrough performance came in 1998's The Thin Red Line, but he didn't become famous until he played the lead role in Mel Gibson's surprise blockbusting hit The Passion of the Christ in 2004, but he suffered for his art - during filming he was struck by lightning, and suffered both pneumonia and hypothermia. He turned down the chance to play Cyclops in X-Men to take the lead in Frequency instead. Other film projects include Madison, Long Weekend and Transit; he also starred in a remake of The Prisoner on TV and crime drama Person of Interest.
Quote: "My mom's 100 per cent Irish, and in my family we've always called acting 'blarney'."
Trivia: He once did some modelling for Gap.
Guy Pearce (Actor) .. Fernand Mondego
Born: October 05, 1967 in Ely, Cambridgeshire
Best Known For: Going from Erinsborough to Hollywood.
Early-life: Born Guy Edward Pearce on October 5, 1967, in Ely, Cambridgeshire. When Guy was three, he, his pilot father, teacher mother and older sister Tracey emigrated to Geelong, Australia. At school, Guy shunned maths and science in favour of music and the arts, and joined the local amateur dramatics society at the tender age of 11, appearing in plays including The Wizard of Oz. He also began bodybuilding, and won the title of Mr Junior Victoria in his mid-teens. After writing to several TV companies, Pearce won the part of Mike Young in Neighbours in 1985, days after his final high school exams.
Career: After three years in Ramsay Street, Pearce had a stint in Home and Away. During this time he also made several films, including Heaven Tonight, and Hunting, and later appeared in Snowy River: The McGregor Saga. But it was 1994's The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, that made Hollywood notice his acting talent, and lead roles in movies including the Oscar-winning LA Confidential (opposite fellow antipodean Russell Crowe) and critically acclaimed Memento followed. Other projects include The Count of Monte Cristo, Factory Girl, The Hurt Locker, The Road, The Proposition, The King's Speech and Iron Man 3.
Quote: "You meet these people who are confident all the time. They annoy me. And I wonder if it's because I'm envious, or if it's because they're shallow."
Trivia: Pearce occasionally appears on stage and in music videos too.
Richard Harris (Actor) .. Abbe Faria
Born: October 01, 1930 in Limerick City
Best Known For: A distinguished film and stage career.
Early-life: Richard St John Harris was born in Limerick City on October 1, 1930, the youngest of nine children from a middle-class, Roman Catholic family. He was a talented sportsman, representing Munster on several occasions until contracting TB ended his career. Richard went on to study acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He went on to join Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop and soon began getting roles in various West End stage productions.
Career: Harris made his film debut in the 1958 British comedy Alive and Kicking. Other movies followed, including The Heroes of Telemark, Major Dundee, Camelot, A Man Called Horse, The Cassandra Crossing and The Wild Geese. He appeared in a number of forgettable productions during the 1980s but returned to form in the 1990s with The Field, Patriot Games and Unforgiven. His later films included Gladiator and two Harry Potter films. He died in London on October 25, 2002, at the age of 72, following a battle with Hodgkin's disease.
