Early-life: Eric Bana was born Eric Banadinovich in Melbourne, Australia, on August 9, 1968. He is of Croatian and German descent. He was popular among his schoolmates for doing impressions of his teachers. After being inspired to become an actor by watching Mel Gibson in Mad Max he moved to Sydney and worked odd jobs to support himself. In 1991, he began a career as a stand-up comedian, while working as a barman at Melbourne's Castle Hotel.
Career: After making his breakthrough as a comedian on Australian TV, Bana came to the attention of global audiences playing the lead role in Chopper, a biography of notorious Australian underworld figure Mark Read. Hollywood movies such as Black Hawk Down, Hulk and Troy followed. He had a lead role in 2005's Munich, alongside Daniel Craig and Geoffrey Rush, and directed by Steven Spielberg. With his stardom now assured, Bana continues to work in major US and Australian productions, including The Time Travellers' Wife, Star Trek, The Other Boleyn Girl and Kath and Kim.

Early-life: Jennifer Lynn Connelly was born in New York on December 12, 1970 to Ilene and Gerard. Jennifer began modelling for print advertisements from a young age and her mother took her to acting auditions. Her introduction to movie-making was playing an aspiring dancer in Sergio Leone's gangster epic Once Upon a Time in America (1984). While filming Once Upon a Time in America, she also made her first small-screen appearance in an episode of British TV series Tales of the Unexpected.
Career: Connelly's first leading role was in Phenomena (1985), where she played a girl who could communicate with insects. She followed this up with Seven Minutes in Heaven (1985). She first came to the public's attention after starring in Jim Henson's Labyrinth (1986). She went on to star in a number of films during the 1980s and 1990s, including Some Girls (1988), The Rocketeer (1991), Mulholland Falls (1996) and Inventing the Abbots (1997). Early-life: Samuel Pack Elliott was born in Sacramento, California, on August 9, 1944. As a teenager, he moved with his family to Oregon. He studied at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington, where he was cast as one of the leads in a production of Guys and Dolls. A local newspaper review suggested he should consider becoming a professional actor.
Best Known For: A number of films.
Career: Elliott started out as a character actor and was often cast in Westerns. His first film was as a card player in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). In the early 1970s, he had a recurring role on the TV series Mission: Impossible. In 1976, he played the lead roles in miniseries Once An Eagle and the film Lifeguard. He made guest appearances in the likes of Gunsmoke, The Streets of San Francisco, and Hawaii Five-O. His film credits include Mask (1985), Road House (1989), Sibling Rivalry (1990), Tombstone (1993), The Big Lebowski (1998), We Were Soldiers (2002), Hulk (2003), Thank You for Smoking (2005), The Golden Compass (2007), Up in the Air (2009) and Draft Day (2014).

Early-life: Joshua Lucas Easy Dent Maurer was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on June 20, 1971 to Michele and Don. Josh's interest in film was sparked at the age of eight when he watched a movie being made close to where he lived. He moved with his family more than 30 times before he was 13. He decided against going to college so that he could pursue an acting career.
Career: Lucas moved to Los Angeles and showed early promise in the 1993 TV movie Class of '61 and Alive (1993), but he was then forced to settle for a succession of minor TV roles. He relocated to New York and began developing his acting skills in various stage productions. His career received a boost in 2000 when he was cast in the films You Can Count on Me and American Psycho. Since then, he has appeared in A Beautiful Mind (2001), Sweet Home Alabama (2002), Hulk (2003), Poseidon (2006), Glory Road (2006), The Lincoln Lawyer (2011), Red Dog (2011) and J Edgar (2012).

Best Known For: Prince of Tides and 48 Hours.
Early-life: Nicholas King Nolte was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on February 8, 1941 and began his career on stage at the Pasadena Playhouse and in regional theatre productions. His key role was in the TV miniseries "Rich Man, Poor Man" (1976). In 1979, he nearly landed the leading role in Apocalypse Now, but narrowly missed out, as he did with the Han Solo role in Star Wars.
Career: Nolte's movie breakthrough was in 1982 action comedy 48 Hours. He followed this up with critically-acclaimed vehicles like Down and Out in Beverly Hills and Three Fugitives. He gave more serious performances in the The Prince of Tides and Cape Fear. He has been Oscar-nominated three times, and performances in dark dramas like Affliction have been critically-acclaimed. He gave a superb turn in short-lived HBO racing drama Luck.
