He started to learn about magic when he was 14 and his first break as an entertainer came when he performed his magic show at Butlins when he was 17. It led to him being offered a job as a Redcoat at Minehead. His first taste of TV began in 1998 as a CITV presenter. He went on to co-host Finger Tips with Fearne Cotton and Naomi Wilkinson, children's show Tricky TV and Holly & Stephen's Saturday Showdown with Holly Willoughby.

Since leaving Walford, he has competed in Strictly Come Dancing, played Granddad in the Only Fools and Horses prequel Rock and Chips, and written his autobiography.
