Jim Carrey (Actor) .. Bruce Nolan
Born: February 17, 1962 in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada
Best Known For: His outrageous comedy performances.
Early-life: James Eugene Carrey was born on January 17, 1962, in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. He's the youngest of four children. His father was an accountant and jazz musician. The family was so strapped for cash that at one point they all worked as cleaners in a factory and lived in their camper van to make ends meet. A natural performer from a young age, he had a routine he would do for anybody willing to watch and sent his CV to Carol Burnett when he was 10.
Career: Carrey dropped out of high school at 16, but began appearing as a stand-up comedian in Toronto clubs. After moving to Los Angeles, he made a name for himself at The Comedy Store before moving into films and TV. Small roles in Peggy Sue Got Married, Earth Girls Are Easy and The Dead Pool followed. The series In Living Color helped make his name in the US, while the success of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective turned him into a global star. Hit films since include The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, Liar Liar, The Truman Show, Bruce Almighty, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events. His recent work includes Mr Popper's Penguins, Kick-Ass 2 and Dumb and Dumber To.
Quote: "I tend to stay up late, not because I'm partying, but because it's the only time of day when I'm alone and I don't have to be on, performing."
Trivia: He became an American citizen in 2004.
Morgan Freeman (Actor) .. God
Born: June 01, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee
Best Known For: That trademark voice.
Early-life: Born Morgan Porterfield Freeman on June 1, 1937, the son of a cleaner and a barber in Memphis, Tennessee. Freeman has three older siblings and was partly raised by his paternal grandmother. He was bitten by the acting bug at eight when he starred in a school play. At 12 he won a state-wide drama competition. Morgan turned down the chance to study drama at university to join the US Air Force. He left after four years and began concentrating on an acting career, starting out on stage in the early 1960s.
Career: Freeman's first credited big-screen appearance was in 1971's Who Says I Can't Ride a Rainbow?, before he landed a regular role on children's show The Electric Company. In the mid-1980s, Freeman started getting more prominent roles in movies. Among his biggest hits have been Driving Miss Daisy, The Shawshank Redemption, Se7en, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Glory, Amistad, Deep Impact and Bruce Almighty. He is also an in-demand voice-over artist, lending his dulcet tones to sci-fi blockbuster War of the Worlds and the Oscar-winning documentary March of the Penguins. Freeman received an Academy Award of his own for his supporting role in Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby. A prolific actor, he has more recently appeared in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy and always has several films in pre-production.
Quote: "I'm not intimidated by lead roles. I'm better in them. I don't feel pressure - I feel released at times like that. That's what I'm born to do."
Trivia: He worked as a mechanic in the US Air Force.
Jennifer Aniston (Actor) .. Grace Connelly
Born: February 11, 1969 in Sherman Oaks, California
Best Known For: Playing Rachel in Friends.
Early-life: Jennifer Joanna Aniston was born on February 11, 1969, in Sherman Oaks, California, the daughter of actor John Aniston and his wife Nancy. Telly Savalas was her godfather. Her parents divorced when she was nine. Following a spell in her father's native Greece, she was raised in New York, where she joined a drama club. Despite being a talented artist, Aniston decided to concentrate on theatrical pursuits when she enrolled at the famous New York School of Performing Arts.
Career: On graduating, she appeared off-Broadway in various productions. In 1990 she made her TV debut in Molloy, following it up with a part in movie spin-off Ferris Bueller. Neither show, nor her first movie, Leprechaun, had much of an impact. She made various guest appearances in TV series until landing the part of poor little rich girl Rachel Green in Friends in 1994. The sitcom made her a household name across the globe. Since then, she's made several films, including The Good Girl, Bruce Almighty, and Along Came Polly. Other hits include Derailed, Rumor Has It, Horrible Bosses and Wanderlust.
Quote: "When somebody follows you 20 blocks to the pharmacy, where they watch you buy toilet paper, you know your life has changed."
Trivia: She has a fear of flying.
Philip Baker Hall (Actor) .. Jack Keller
Catherine Bell (Actor) .. Susan Ortega
Born: August 14, 1968 in London
Best Known For: JAG and Army Wives.
Early-life: Catherine Lisa Bell was born on August 14, 1968, in London. Following the break-up of her parents' marriage, she was whisked away to Los Angeles to start a new life with her mother at the age of three. She was a self-confessed geek in school, who concentrated hard in class and showed an aptitude for maths and biology. During her formative years she featured on a number of TV advertisements, but turned her back on showbiz to pursue a career as a biomedical engineer or a physician. But she once again had a change of heart while studying at the University of California Los Angeles, and decided to become a model. Her sultry curves proved a hit and she was soon chosen to be Isabella Rossellini's body double in Death Becomes Her in 1992. Not only did this role introduce her to the love of her life but it also gave her the acting bug.
Career: Throughout the early 1990s, Bell had a number of guest spots on high-profile shows such as Friends and The Naked Truth, but she was made to wait until 1996 for her first big break. Playing the tough, career-oriented Sarah MacKenzie in JAG gave Bell her first leading role. She describes herself as a tomboy in real life, so it's only fitting that she made her name by playing such a hard-nosed army officer. Her next major role would once again centre on life in the forces, but this time she'd see it from the opposite point of view: in Army Wives she plays Denise Sherwood, who's married to a senior officer. Bell's character is a nurse who has put her life on hold to accommodate her husband, and is now desperate to get something back. This show is Sex and the City on an army base and it gives an intriguing insight into life in this claustrophobic environment. In recent years Bell has also taken the lead role in Hallmark's The Good Witch saga, playing the title role in 2008, and reprising it in a number of sequels.
Quote: "I love the way acting communicates to so many on so many different levels."
Trivia: In 2007, Bell was the grand marshal of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway.
Lisa Ann Walter (Actor) .. Debbie
Steve Carell (Actor) .. Evan Baxter
Born: August 16, 1962 in Concord, Massachusetts
Best Known For: The US version of The Office and a string of hit movies.
Early-life: Steven John Carell was born in Concord, Massachusetts on August 16, 1962, to an Italian-American family (their original surname, Carselli, was shortened by his grandfather). His father was an electrical engineer, his mother a psychiatric nurse. Carell studied at an all-boys private institution. After graduating from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, he honed his performing skills with Chicago's Second City comedy troupe.
Career: During the 1990s, Carell taught an improvisational comedy class, wrote for The Dana Carvey Show and was one of the correspondents on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He impressed critics with supporting roles in Bruce Almighty (2003) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004). In 2005, he co-wrote and starred in The 40 Year Old Virgin, which thrust him into the mainstream. He also shone in Little Miss Sunshine (2006) and helped turn the US version of British sitcom The Office into a big success. Since then he's starred in the likes of Date Night (2010), Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), Hope Springs (2012) and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013). He left The Office in 2011 to concentrate on movies.
Quote: "I have no idea where my pathetic nature comes from. If I thought about it too long, it would depress me."
Trivia: He voices Gru in the Despicable Me movies.
Nora Dunn (Actor) .. Ally Loman
Tony Bennett (Actor) .. Himself
Born: August 03, 1926 in New York
Best Known For: Performing classic songs.
Early-life: Born Anthony Dominick Benedetto on August 3, 1926, in Astoria, New York, the son of an Italian father and American mother. He quit music and art studies at the High School of Industrial Arts aged 12 to support his family after his father died. He later became a singing waiter and then joined the US Army's entertainment unit during the Second World War. While working as an MC in a Greenwich Village revue he was spotted by Bob Hope, who booked him for his Paramount Show and persuaded him to change his name.
Career: Bennett landed his first recording contract in 1950, topping the US charts a year later with Because of You - the first of 24 hits in 14 years, including his Grammy Award-winning signature tune, I Left My Heart in San Francisco. He concentrated on making albums during the 1960s and 1970s, recording 25 in just 10 years, featuring contributions from Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Ray Charles. Much of the next decade was spent performing live and developing his talents as a painter, exhibiting work under his birth name. He became fashionable again in the 1990s after his son Danny took over as his manager. He continues to record and perform shows around the world.
