Robin Williams (Actor) .. Daniel Hillard/Mrs Euphegenia Doubtfire
Born: July 21, 1952 in Chicago
Best Known For: Being one of Hollywood's biggest stars.
Early-life: Robin McLaurin Williams was born in Chicago on July 21, 1951, but raised in Detroit. His father was a Ford Motor Company executive and his mother a model. The family was comfortably off. After graduating from high school he studied political science at Claremont Men's College, but quit to tackle drama at the renowned Juilliard School in New York, where he became friends with Christopher Reeve. He earned extra money performing mime.
Career: Williams started out as a stand-up comedian, making his TV debut in 1977 on The Richard Pryor Show. His big break came playing the alien Mork in Happy Days, and its hugely successful spin-off Mork and Mindy. Movie success was difficult to come by, despite starring roles in Popeye and The World According to Garp. His first box-office hit was 1987's Good Morning Vietnam. Success in Dead Poets Society, The Fisher King, Awakenings and Mrs Doubtfire followed. He was also the voice of the genie in Disney's popular animated film Aladdin. He went on to win an Academy Award for Good Will Hunting in 1997. He followed that up with critically acclaimed fare such as Insomnia and One Hour Photo, and a one-man Broadway show. His other film credits include the Night at the Museum franchise. He returned to TV in 2013 in the sitcom The Crazy Ones. After a long battle with depression, he took his own life on August 11, 2014, at the age of 63.
Quote: "You're only given one little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it."
Trivia: To go with his Academy Award, he won two Emmys, four Golden Globes, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and five Grammys.
Sally Field (Actor) .. Miranda Hillard
Born: November 06, 1946 in California
Best Known For: Playing Forrest Gump's mum.
Early-life: Sally Margaret Field was born on November 6, 1946, in California. Her father was a captain in the US army and her mother Margaret Field an actress, who appeared in many B-movies during the 1950s. Her parents divorced when she was five, and her mum married actor and stuntman Jock Mahoney, who would later encourage Field in her chosen career. She starred in various high school productions, and decided not to go to college after enrolling in a summer acting workshop at Columbia studios. In 1965, she beat hundreds of other aspiring young stars to win the title role in the TV show Gidget.
Career: Gidget lasted for only one series, but Field proved a hit with TV audiences and in 1967 was given the lead role in the sitcom The Flying Nun, which ran for three years. When that came to an end, she was afraid she would never be taken seriously and signed up to study at the prestigious Actors Studio. In 1976, she won an Emmy for her performance in TV movie Sybill and big-screen success soon followed in Smokey and the Bandit. In 1979, Field picked up the Best Actress Oscar for Norma Rae, going on to win a second five years later for Places in the Heart. Her career has since struggled to reach those heights, but Field has appeared in successful movies including Steel Magnolias, Forrest Gump and Say It Isn't So, and in 2001 won an Emmy for her recurring guest role in ER. She has since won further rave reviews for her role in US drama Brothers and Sisters. Her recent credits include Lincoln and The Amazing Spider-Man movies.
Quote: "Being an older actress, I may not be offered a whole lot of starring roles in movies, but I'm having so much fun doing things that I've never done before."
Trivia: She is an activist for gay rights.
Pierce Brosnan (Actor) .. Stu Dunmeyer
Born: May 16, 1953 in Drogheda, Ireland
Best Known For: Being James Bond.
Early-life: Pierce Brendan Brosnan was born on May 16, 1953, in Drogheda, Ireland. His parents separated when he was a baby, and he was raised by relatives in Navan (which he considers his hometown) from the age of four while his mother trained as a nurse in England. They were reunited in 1964, settling in Putney, west London, with his mother's second husband. Pierce was bulled at school because of his Irish accent. He later trained as a commercial artist, but switched to acting after becoming involved with a theatre group.
Career: Brosnan's first roles came on stage at York Theatre Royal. He was chosen by Tennessee Williams to star in the West End debut of his play The Red Devil Battery Sign. He followed by his movie debut in Resting Rough in 1979. He made appearances in The Professionals, Hammer House of Horror, The Long Good Friday and Manions of America before moving to Hollywood. He was in the TV show Remington Steele for five years, which prevented him taking over from Roger Moore as 007 in 1986. Low-budget movies followed until Bond came calling again in 1995. His last 007 movie, Die Another Day, was released in 2002. He runs his own production company, Irish DreamTime. Among his best non-Bond movies are The Thomas Crown Affair remake, The Matador, Seraphim Falls, The Ghost, Love is All You Need, The Love Punch, A Long Way Down and Mamma Mia!
