Best Known For: Directing The Sixth Sense (1999).
Early-life: Manoj Shyamalan was born in Mahe, India, on August 6, 1970 to physician Nelliate and obstetrician and gynaecologist Jayalakshmi. His parents had moved to America in the late 1960s but his mother returned to India when she was carrying Manoj to give birth at her parents' home. Manoj was raised in an affluent suburb in Philadelphia. He went on to attend New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in Manhattan.
