Early-life:
Christopher Robert Evans was born on June 13, 1981 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States and raised in the town of Sudbury. His father, Robert, is a dentist and his mother, Lisa, is an artistic director at the Concord Youth Theater. He has two sisters, Carly and Shana, and a brother called Scott. After graduating from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, he moved to New York and took classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
Career:
One of Evans' earliest film roles was in Not Another Teen Movie (2001). After filming wrapped for this, he was cast in lead roles in The Perfect Score (2004) and Cellular (2004). His breakthrough was as superhero the Human Torch in the adaptation of Fantastic Four (2005), a role he reprised for its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). Evans then went on to appear in Sunshine (2007), The Losers (2010) and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010). In 2011, he starred as the titular character in Captain America: The First Avenger. He reprised this role for a number of other Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including Avengers Assemble (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and Captain America: Civil War (2016). Other films he has appeared in include What's Your Number? (2011), The Iceman (2012), Snowpiercer (2013) and Gifted (2017). Evans' directorial debut was Before We Go (2014), which he also starred in.
