Early-life:
Paul Stephen Rudd was born on April 6th, 1969, in Passaic, New Jersey, but was raised in Overland Park, Kansas. Both his parents were English. He has a younger sister. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the University of Kansas but realised academic life wasn't for him. Instead, he went to the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, studying alongside Scooby-Doo star Matthew Lilliard. To make ends meet, he worked as a DJ.
Career:
Following a short course at Oxford University, Rudd helped to produce a performance at the Globe Theatre and played Hamlet, directed by Ben Kingsley. His first TV work came in 1992, including a year-long stint on soap opera Sisters. More stage work followed before his big break came when he was cast as the love interest in hit movie Clueless. He's been in demand ever since, appearing in such diverse projects as Romeo + Juliet, The Cider House Rules, The Object of My Affection, Jackie Chan's Gen-X Cops 2 and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. He became a semi-regular in Friends in 2002. Since then, he has appeared in a number of hit comedy films, including The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Night at the Museum, The Ex, Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Role Models, Year One, Dinner for Schmucks and Ant-Man.
