Early-life: Jennifer Shrader Lawrence was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 15, 1990. Her parents are Gary and Karen and she has two older brothers, Ben and Blaine. She acted in a local theatre and by the age of 14, she knew she wanted to pursue an acting career. Jennifer was discovered by a photographer while visiting New York with her mother in 2005. This led to her securing an agent and she went on to appear in a number of commercials.
Career: Lawrence's first TV role was in the comedy The Bill Engvall Show, which aired for three seasons between 2007 and 2009. Her big break came in 2010 when she was cast in the lead role in Winter's Bone, which landed her an Academy Award nomination. Since then, she has starred in X-Men: First Class (2011), the hugely popular The Hunger Games (2012), House at the End of the Street (2012) and Silver Linings Playbook (2012), which turned out to be an Academy Award-winning performance. More box-office success has followed in sequels to The Hunger Games, American Hustle (2013), and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).

He studied painting for four years at Madrid's Escuela de Artes y Oficios.
Career: In 1990, he had a small role in Bigas Luna's The Ages of Lulu, a film that also featured his mother. Two years later, Luna offered Bardem the lead role in his next project, the internationally successful Jamon, Jamon. He then starred in Luna's next film Golden Balls (1993). His first English-speaking role came in 1997 in Peridita Durango. He followed this with a number of Spanish-language movies before returning to an English-speaking role in the internationally acclaimed Before Night Falls, a role that earned him an Academy Award nomination. His recent movie credits include Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Biutiful, Eat Pray Love, Skyfall and The Counselor. He was the first Spanish actor to win an Academy Award when he won for his role in No Country for Old Men.
Quote: "The only thing I can do is act, but it's not something I even feel comfortable doing. It costs me a lot, because I'm a shy person, even if I don't look it."

Ed Harris (Actor) .. Man
Born: November 28, 1950 in New Jersey
Best Known For: Being the best actor not to yet win an Oscar.
Early-life: Born in New Jersey, in 1950. His father Robert was a singer with the dance-band leader Fred Waring and made many TV and radio appearances. Growing up, Ed preferred sport to performing - his prowess on the American football field won him a scholarship to Columbia University. However, he eventually realised that he didn't want to be a professional athlete and dropped out to join his parents, who had relocated to Oklahoma. That's where he first started appearing in local theatre productions, and realised he wanted to be an actor. He returned to college, this time to study drama.
Career: He initially worked as a house-painter to make ends meet, but acting jobs soon started flooding in, mainly in theatre and TV. He bagged his first leading movie role in the cult film Knightriders in 1981, but it was his performance as John Glenn in the acclaimed The Right Stuff that marked him out as a rising star. In 1995, another fact-based drama about astronauts, Apollo 13, earned him his first Oscar nod. He's been nominated three more times for The Truman Show, Pollock (which he also directed) and The Hours. His other notable films include The Abyss, The Rock, Nixon, A Beautiful Mind, A History of Violence and Man on a Ledge.
Quote: "I don't feel like I've sacrificed my career for my family or vice-versa. It's been a pretty good balancing act."

After winning the Miss Orange County beauty pageant she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, and studied at The Beverly Hills Playhouse before making her TV debut in a 1978 episode of Fantasy Island.
Career: Pfeiffer gained regular parts in short-lived sitcom Delta House in 1979, and crime drama BAD Cats. Her first film was 1980's The Hollywood Knights. Landing the lead in Grease 2 should have boosted her career, but the film was a flop. Parts in Scarface, Ladyhawke, and Sweet Liberty followed, and The Witches of Eastwick made her star in 1987. Since then, she's received Oscar nominations for Dangerous Liaisons, The Fabulous Baker Boys, and Love Field. She also starred in Frankie and Johnny, Batman Returns, The Age of Innocence, One Fine Day, and I Am Sam. After some time away from the movies, she returned with a vengeance in star-studded fantasy Stardust and won rave reviews for her role as a courtesan in Cheri. More recently she's appeared in New Year's Eve, Dark Shadows and The Family, and claims she plans to work a lot now that her children are grown up.
Quote: "I act for free, but I demand a huge salary as compensation for all the annoyance of being a public personality. In that sense, I earn every dime I make."
