Robbie Coltrane (Actor) .. Michael Moon
Born: March 30, 1950 in Rutherglen, near Glasgow
Best Known For: Playing psychologist Fitz in Cracker, and Hagrid in the Harry Potter films.
Early-life: Born Anthony Robert McMillan on March 30, 1950, in Rutherglen, near Glasgow, Coltrane's father Ian was a GP and a police surgeon who was keen to educate his son and encourage him to read as much as possible. Mother Jean was a teacher and musician who often played the piano for her son. At 17, his father died of lung cancer. His younger sister Jane later committed suicide while attending York University.
Career: Coltrane first captured the public's attention as a member of the Comic Strip team in 1982, co-writing and co-directing the series as well as starring. He'd done the rounds as a stand-up comedian, but realised he wanted to pursue a career in acting. He has proven himself to be capable of doing straight roles and comedy, winning three Best Actor Bafta Awards for crime drama series Cracker. He has also won roles in big-budget movies, including two outings as a Bond villain in Goldeneye and The World Is Not Enough, and more recently as Hagrid in the Harry Potter films as well as voicing roles in several children's animations. Robbie received an OBE for services to drama in 2006.
Quote: 'My size? I am six foot one inch in just about every direction.'
Trivia: Away from acting, Coltrane is a talented painter.
Richard E Grant (Actor) .. Stephen Moon
Born: May 02, 1957 in Mbabane, Swaziland
Best Known For: Withnail and I.
Early-life: Born Richard Esterhuysen on May 2, 1957, in Mbabane, Swaziland. His mother left home when he was 11, leaving him and his brother Stuart to be raised by their father, the country's director of education. He attended school with Nelson Mandela's daughter. Grant knew from an early age he wanted to act after becoming infatuated with Barbra Streisand. He studied English and drama at university in Cape Town, South Africa, then settled in London, but struggled to make a name for himself.
Career: Grant gained good reviews for a performance in short film Honest, Decent and True in 1985, alongside Gary Oldman and Arabella Weir. His big break came when Daniel Day-Lewis dropped out of Withnail and I, and Grant took his place. The film was a cult smash. Since then, he's appeared in various films and TV shows, including Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Age of Innocence, LA Story, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Gosford Park, and The Hound of the Baskervilles. His film diary, With Nails, was a best-seller, but a novel, By Design, was disappointing. In 2005, he made his directing debut with the critically acclaimed, semi-autobiographical Wah-Wah. His recent work includes roles in Colour Me Kubrick, Penelope, Cuckoo and The Iron Lady, in which he played Tory politician Michael Heseltine.
Quote: 'Sometimes Hollywood doesn't seem a million miles from a Miss World contest. I just don't have strong enough mental furniture to withstand it.'

Best Known For: Playing Dr Frasier Crane.
Early-life: Born Allen Kelsey Grammer on February 21, 1955, in St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. His parents split up when he was two, and he was raised by his mother in New Jersey and Florida. He turned to acting after reading Shakespeare as a boy. Grammer has suffered several family tragedies - his father was shot dead in 1968, his sister was murdered in 1975, and in 1980 his two half-brothers died in a scuba-diving accident.

Early-life: David Hyde Pierce was born on April 3, 1959, in Saratoga Springs, New York. His father ran an insurance agency, and David says he had a 'run-of-the-mill, middle-class' upbringing. The youngest of four children, David started taking piano lessons at the age of eight and yearned to become a concert pianist. He also did well academically and attended the prestigious Yale University, where he decided he would rather be an actor rather than a musician. In 1981, David graduated with a degree in English and Theatre Arts and moved to New York to continue acting studies, supporting himself by working as a tie salesman.
Career: David worked steadily on the stage throughout the 1980s and made his film debut in Bright Lights, Big City in 1988. He was later offered a role in Little Man Tate by former Yale classmate Jodie Foster, who remembered him from a student play. In 1992, he was in short-lived sitcom The Powers That Be and caught the eye of Frasier's creators, who noticed his resemblance to Kelsey Grammer and wrote the role of Niles especially for him. His performance in the long-running sitcom earned him four Emmy awards and a reported salary of $1million per episode for the last few seasons. Frasier came to an end in 2003 and David has since been seen in the film Down With Love and in various stage productions on Broadway and the West End. He won a Tony Award in 2007 for his performance in Kander and Ebb musical Curtains.

Best Known For: Her kooky character on Frasier.
Early-life: Jane was born in Ilford, Essex, on April 18, 1961, and grew up in East Grinstead, Sussex. She originally trained to be a ballerina, but an injury at 18 halted her career. She went on to work as a model, was one of the dancers on The Benny Hill Show and appeared in commercials and rock videos - doing less strenuous dancing - before getting the acting bug. The profession had always appealed to Jane, who wrote in a schoolbook that she wanted to be an actress when she was a five-year-old.
Career: After moving to Los Angeles, Leeves appeared in a series called Throb and made guest appearances in a number of shows, including Seinfeld and the miniseries Pandora's Clock. Her big break came in 1993 when she was cast as Daphne Moon in Cheers spin-off Frasier. Leeves has starred on Broadway as Sally Bowles in Cabaret and played parts in a variety of films, including Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983), To Live and Die in LA (1985), Miracle on 34th Street (1994) and Music of the Heart (1999). She grew up in Dallas, and from the age of eight wanted to be an actress. Her family encouraged her and, with her two sisters and brother, she began appearing in commercials. After studying at the Dallas Theatre Centre, she took drama at the University of Texas in Austin and London's British-American Academy.
Career: In the US, Gilpin struggled to get decent roles, so worked as a make-up artist and radio producer. Later, she became an apprentice at the acclaimed Williamstown Theatre Festival, and had small parts in TV shows Cheers, Matlock, 21 Jump Street and Wings. Actress Blythe Danner liked her work and helped her gain roles, although the Frasier job only came about when original choice Lisa Kudrow (of Friends) dropped out. Gilpin's other projects include How to Kill Your Neighbour's Dog and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. She also runs production company Bristol Cities with former Frasier co-star Jane Leeves. Since Frasier ended in 2004, Gilpin has appeared in Medium, Desperate Housewives, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Make It or Break It, and Hot in Cleveland.

Harriet Sansom Harris (Actor) .. Bebe Glazer
Jennifer Beals (Actor) .. Dr Anne Ranberg
Born: December 19, 1963 in Chicago
Best Known For: Flashdance and The L Word.
Early-life: Born on 19 December 1963 in Chicago. Her father was an African-American grocery store owner, and her mother was an Irish elementary school teacher; she has often said that having biracial heritage made her feel like an outsider - her character (Bette Porter) in The L Word hails from a similar background. During high school the burgeoning actress dated Chuck star Adam Baldwin. Her talents were soon picked out from the crowd as she was selected for the Goodman Theatre Young People's Drama Workshop. Despite already starting to make waves in the industry, she managed to attend Yale University, and graduate with a B.A in American Literature in 1987.
Career: In 1980, Beals had her first big-screen appearance, with an uncredited minor role in My Bodyguard, but she was catapulted into the spotlight when Flashdance became a smash hit in 1983. She played the lead role of Alex, a no-nonsense, single-minded dancer determined to make it to the top - strong, independent roles like these would go on to become Beals' bread and butter. After achieving stardom as a college freshman, she continued to exhibit expert multi-tasking skills to appear opposite Sting in The Bride (1985). She then took a brief break before bursting back onto screens with a flurry of outings in 1988, including Vampire's Kiss, which also featured Nicholas Cage. During the 90s and the early noughties, Beals continued to work steadily in both TV and film, forging a solid reputation with Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) and Runaway Jury (2003). But The L Word became her next iconic project in 2004: Bette Porter's mix of smarts and sexiness was a marriage made in heaven for the Chicago-born actress. Since the lust-fuelled series ended, she has appeared alongside Tim Roth in Lie to Me, and was part of the stellar cast that brought The Book of Eli to the big screen in 2010.
Quote: 'It's been perfect. I can still ride a subway and work with great people. I can't imagine being Julia Roberts. I don't have the fortitude to withstand that kind of attention.'

In his youth, he developed a passion for football, playing in goal for Adelaide City and West Adelaide.
