Early-life: Raymond Allen Liotta was born on December 18, 1954, in Newark, New Jersey, and adopted six months later. Years later, he tracked his mother down and they remained in contact. His adoptive parents led a comfortable life and he had a happy childhood, excelling at football and basketball at school. He earned extra money by working in his father's chain of shops before enrolling at the University of Miami. He became interested in acting when an attractive female student persuaded him to audition for a play.
Career: After graduating, Liotta moved to New York and began appearing in commercials. Six months later he became a star thanks to a recurring role in soap Another World. He quit after four years in 1981, but struggled to get a break in movies, appearing instead in numerous TV dramas and low-budget productions. In 1986, his friend Melanie Griffith got him a role in her movie Something Wild, which was the lucky break he needed. He hasn't looked back. Projects since include Field of Dreams, Goodfellas, Turbulence, Cop Land, Hannibal, Blow and Narc. As busy as ever, his recent work includes Revolver, Wild Hogs, Crossing Over, Observe and Report, Youth in Revolt, Date Night, and Charlie St Cloud.

Trivia: He gained 20lbs for his role in Narc (2002).

Early-life: Born Matthew Rhys Evans in Cardiff on November 8, 1974, he is the son of a headmaster and a teacher who encouraged him to follow his dream of becoming a professional actor. He has an older sister, Rachel, who is a journalist; they both attended Welsh-speaking schools. Matthew studied drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (Rada), and during this period shared a flat with his childhood friend and fellow future star Ioan Gruffud. While at Rada, Matthew had roles in low-budget Welsh film House of America and BBC police drama Backup.
Career: In 1998, Rhys filmed New Zealand costume drama Greenstone before landing a part in box-office flop Titus. He had better luck a year later when he played a lead role opposite Kathleen Turner in the world premiere of the stage adaptation of The Graduate in the West End. He enjoyed worldwide recognition after being cast in American drama Brothers & Sisters as lawyer Kevin Walker. The show ran for five seasons before coming to an end in 2011. More recently, Rhys has appeared in BBC costume dramas The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Death Comes to Pemberley, and ITV's Daphne Du Maurier adaptation The Scapegoat. In 2013, he began starring opposite Keri Russell in 1980s Cold War drama The Americans.

Best Known For: Modern Family.
Early-life: Jesse Tyler Ferguson was born on October 22, 1975, in Missoula, Montana. He knew from an early age he wanted to become an actor, joining the Albuquerque Children's Theater when he was eight. He graduated from High School in 1994 and attended The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York.
Career: In New York, Ferguson worked mainly in off-Broadway and Broadway shows, including the Tony Award-winning The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. In the summer of 2007, he starred in the Public Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. In 2007, he played the role of Richie Velch on short-lived CBS sitcom The Class. He can currently be seen playing Mitchell Pritchett in popular ABC sitcom Modern Family.

Early-life: Born Elizabeth Irene Mitchell in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on February 10, 1974, she is the eldest of four children. She was playing in a little league baseball team when she broke her leg sliding into third base. Trying out for a school play sparked her interest in acting. She went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania and the American Conservatory Theater.
Career: Banks had small roles in various films before she raised her profile in The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005). She went on to star in Slither (2006), Meet Bill (2007), Fred Claus (2007), Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008), W. (2008), The Next Three Days (2010), What to Expect When You're Expecting (2012) and Pitch Perfect (2012). She was unrecognisable as Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games (2012) and its sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013). On the small screen, Banks has had recurring roles on Scrubs and 30 Rock.
