Early-life:
Nicole de Boer was born on December 20, 1970, in Toronto, Canada. She was a shy child, but began coming out of her shell when she was cast as Dorothy in a school production of The Wizard of Oz. She then announced her intention to become a professional actress and, with help from her grandmother and with her parents' blessing, she found an agent. Shortly afterwards, she landed a role in a Christmas TV special co-starring Vincent Price and Red Skelton.
Career:
De Boer acted throughout her teens, appearing in various adverts and small screen shows, including Canadian dramas 9B and First Resort. Other projects around this time include her first film, Prom Night IV: Deliver Us From Evil, and such TV work as Family Pictures, The Kissing Place, JFK: Reckless Youth and The Counterfeit Contessa. A regular role in comedy show Kids in the Hall led to a part in the spin-off movie, but her big break came when she was cast in cult film Cube. She also had a stint in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Since then, de Boer has appeared in The Dead Zone, and movies Phil the Alien, Christmas Town, and Suck.

Trivia:
At the age of 11, De Boer made her TV debut in a Red Skelton TV special called Freddy the Freeloader's Christmas Dinner.
