Keanu Reeves (Actor) .. Jack Traven
Born: September 02, 1964 in Beirut, Lebanon
Best Known For: The Matrix.
Early-life: Keanu Charles Reeves, whose first name means "cool breeze over the mountains" in Hawaiian, was born in Beirut, Lebanon, on September 2, 1964. His mother, Patricia, was a showgirl; his father, Samuel Nowlin Reeves, was a geologist. After his parents' marriage dissolved, Keanu moved with his mother and younger sister Kim to New York City, then Toronto. He eventually dropped out of school to pursue an acting career.
Career: After a few stage gigs and a handful of made-for-TV movies, he scored a supporting role in the Rob Lowe hockey flick Youngblood (1986), which was filmed in Canada. His first popular success came in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure three years later. He then showed his range with more dramatic roles in My Own Private Idaho and Much Ado About Nothing. He truly hit the big time with action flick Speed and struck box-office gold again a few years later with the Wachowski siblings' cyber-adventure The Matrix and its sequels. Reeves' first film as director, Man of Tai Chi, was released in 2013.
Quote: "What would happen if you melted? You know, you never really hear this talked about much, but spontaneous combustion? It exists!"
Trivia: In 2005, Reeves received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Sandra Bullock (Actor) .. Annie
Born: July 26, 1964 in Washington, DC
Best Known For: Her romcom appearances.
Early-life: Born Sandra Annette Bullock on July 26, 1964, in a suburb of Washington DC, although she lived in Nuremberg until the age of 12. Her mother was a German opera singer, her father a voice coach from Alabama. Sandra accompanied her mother on operatic tours and sang in the Nuremberg children's choir; she is fluent in German. After graduating from high school, Sandra attended East Carolina University, but left to pursue an acting career without completing her degree.
Career: Bullock moved to New York and studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse. Student films were followed by the Off-Broadway play No Time Flat. She went to Hollywood to appear in TV movie Bionic Showdown in 1989, and thought her big break had come when she landed the lead in a small-screen version of hit movie Working Girl. Sadly, the series flopped. Things began looking up in 1993 when she landed a role in Demolition Man; a year later she was a massive star thanks to Speed. Hits since include While You Were Sleeping, Miss Congeniality (and its sequel), Crash, Premonition and The Proposal. She won an Oscar for her performance in The Blind Side. Her recent credits include The Heat and Gravity.
Quote: "Fame means when your computer modem is broken, the repair guy comes out to your house a little faster."
Trivia: She can dance flamenco, salsa and tango.
Dennis Hopper (Actor) .. Howard Payne
Born: May 17, 1936 in Dodge City, Kansas
Best Known For: Hitting the road in Easy Rider.
Early-life: Dennis Lee Hopper was born on May 17, 1936, in Dodge City, Kansas, to parents Jay and Marjorie Hopper. He first became interested in acting while at school. In 1954 he graduated from Helix High School, San Diego, California, where he was voted 'most likely to succeed'. He established himself as a child star in the theatre before winning TV roles. His big break came in cult 1954 Western Johnny Guitar.
Career: Hopper featured in more than 150 films and TV programmes, including Rebel Without a Cause and Giant (both with James Dean), and the iconic Easy Rider, which he also directed. However, years of drug and alcohol abuse took their toll, and his film work foundered during the 1970s (with the notable exception of Apocalypse Now) and early 1980s. David Lynch's disturbing 1986 drama Blue Velvet gave Hopper's career a kick-start, after which he worked steadily on both the big and small screen until his death in May 2010, notably Speed, True Romance and Land of the Dead.
Quote: "Like all artists I want to cheat death a little and contribute something to the next generation."
Trivia: Away from acting, he was an accomplished artist, photographer and passionate golfer.
Jeff Daniels (Actor) .. Harry
Born: February 19, 1955 in Athens, Georgia
Best Known For: Dumb and Dumber.
Early-life: Daniels was born in Georgia but grew up in Chelsea, Michigan. He attended Central Michigan University, and went on to Eastern Michigan University drama school. Theatre director Marshall Mason invited Daniels to New York to work at the Circle Repertory Theatre where he kick-started his stage career.
Career: In 1991, Daniels founded Purple Rose Theatre Company, a non-profit stage company in his hometown, of which he remains Executive Director. The role for which he'll mostly be remembered for came in 1994 in Dumb and Dumber. He's also well-known for various other roles in major movies including Pleasantville, Speed, Arachnaphobia, 101 Dalmations. He recently played the lead role in HBO drama The Newsroom.
