Early-life:
Gary Edward Lucy was born in Chigwell, Essex, on 27 November, 1981, to parents Rosemary and Gary Sr. From a very early age he loved football and has been a lifelong Arsenal fan. He showed a lot of natural flair as a player during his schooling, but despite trying out for both Tottenham Hotspur and Watford, he decided to pursue acting.
Career:
Gary made his screen debut in Sky One's Dream Team back in 1997, but it was his performance as Luke Morgan in Hollyoaks that shot him to fame two years later. The character was at the centre of several important plots, including a controversial male rape storyline, and he became a firm favourite with fans. In 2002 he moved to ITV1 to appear in three seasons of the glossy drama Footballers' Wives alongside Gillian Taylforth and Zoe Lucker. The feature-length Ray Winstone drama She's Gone followed in 2004, and a year later joined the cast of The Bill. In 2010, he finished runner-up in the fifth series of Dancing on Ice. In 2012, he joined the cast of EastEnders as Danny Pennant. He stayed with the show until February 2014.
