Early-life: Gary Edward Lucy was born in Chigwell, Essex, on 27 November, 1981, to parents Rosemary and Gary Sr. From a very early age he loved football and has been a lifelong Arsenal fan. In 2002 he moved to ITV1 to appear in three seasons of the glossy drama Footballers' Wives alongside Gillian Taylforth and Zoe Lucker. The feature-length Ray Winstone drama She's Gone followed in 2004, and a year later joined the cast of The Bill. In 2010, he finished runner-up in the fifth series of Dancing on Ice. In 2012, he joined the cast of EastEnders as Danny Pennant. He stayed with the show until February 2014.
