Early-life:
Born May 25, 1976, in Manhattan but was raised in Los Angeles. He caught the acting bug while performing in school plays. After graduating from high school, his friend Giovanni Ribisi urged him to go to drama class. Eventually gave up his studies but was taken under the wing of Ribisi's mother who became his manager. At 17, Ethan landed a role in the TV series Boy Meets World.
Career:
He was soon snapped up for other TV projects, such as Tales From the Crypt and Sister, Sister, before making his film debut in 1995 comedy Mallrats. Cult director Kevin Smith hired him for roles in Chasing Amy and Clerks II. Suplee also tickled a few ribs in Roadtrip, Evolution and Without A Paddle. He proved he's as adept in dramatic roles as he is with comedy by appearing in American History X, Blow, The Butterfly Effect, John Q, and Cold Mountain. In 2005, he reunited with Mallrats veteran Jason Lee for critically acclaimed sitcom My Name Is Earl. Recent projects have included Art School Confidential, Mr Woodcock, The Fountain, Cutlass and Struck.
