Early-life:
Born Philip Anthony Hopkins on December 31, 1937, in Margam, near Port Talbot, South Wales, the only child of a baker. He claims he was an introverted child who did poorly at school, finding solace in playing the piano; he is now considered a virtuoso. He was inspired to become an actor after meeting local boy Richard Burton. After national service, Hopkins studied at the Cardiff College of Music and Art before enrolling at Rada.
Career:
Hopkins's first professional work was on stage. He later joined Laurence Olivier's National Theatre, but left to make acclaimed movie The Lion in Winter. A steady stream of TV and film work followed (as well as some theatre appearances), including War and Peace, The Lindbergh Kidnapping Case, The Bunker, A Bridge Too Far, The Elephant Man, and Across the Lake. But Hopkins didn't become a major Hollywood star until after giving up alcohol. He won an Oscar for 1991's The Silence of the Lambs, and since then has starred in such hits as The Remains of the Day, Howards End, Hannibal, Shadowlands, Thor and Hitchcock.

Born William Bradley Pitt in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on December 18, 1963. His father ran a trucking firm. At school, his interests included sports, debating, student government and appearing in musicals. At the University of Missouri he studied journalism and advertising, but dropped out before graduating and moved to California to become an actor. He worked in various jobs, including driving limos and as a delivery man. He has two younger siblings.
Career:
Early roles came in Dallas, Growing Pains, Head Of The Class and several TV movies. Pitt's big break was playing young stud JD in Thelma And Louise. Hits include True Romance, Se7en, Interview With The Vampire, Snatch, Fight Club, Ocean's Eleven and Spy Game. Keen to stretch himself, he turned down a role in Apollo 13 to make Twelve Monkeys, for which he received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination. Since then his films include Mr & Mrs Smith, two sequels to Ocean's Eleven, Babel, Burn After Reading and The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. He received an Oscar nomination for The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button in 2008. His recent work includes Inglourious Basterds, Moneyball, World War Z, 12 Years a Slave and Fury.
Trivia:
In August 2014, Pitt married actress Angelina Jolie in a private ceremony in France.

Early-life:
Julia was born in 1965 in Surrey into privileged surroundings. She was the second of five children. She attended the exclusive Cranleigh School, where she became interested in the theatre. She intended to be an artist, but after a year of art school she changed her mind and transferred to Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, from which she graduated in 1988.
Career:
Quickly becoming a respected stage actress, she won rave reviews for her performances in various classic plays. She made her TV breakthrough in 1991 as Catherine the Great in Young Catherine. Hollywood finally took notice of her lauded support role in Legends of the Fall opposite Brad Pitt. She followed this up with the Audrey Hepburn role in the remake of Sabrina in 1995, and as Guinevere in First Knight, opposite Richard Gere and Sean Connery, the same year. She took a lead role in the thriller Smilla's Sense of Snow in 1997, and despite being tipped for the A-list, has spent more than a decade in various character parts on stage and screen. She head a lead role in two seasons of fantasy TV drama Witches of East End.
