Early-life:
Mary-Kate was born in Sherman Oaks, California, on June 13, 1986 to Jarnette and David. Along with her twin Ashley, Mary-Kate was cast at the age of nine months to share the role of Michelle Tanner in the American sitcom Full House. The series ran from 1987 until 1995. In 1993, the Olsens established the company Dualstar, which produced a number of TV movies and direct-to-video projects featuring the twins. They made their movie debuts alongside Steve Guttenberg and Kirstie Alley in It Takes Two (1995).
Career:
The twins were very popular with preteens during the late 1990s and early 2000s and their names and likenesses appeared on a number of products, including clothes, shoes, hats, fragrances and makeup. Away from her sister, Mary-Kate has starred in Factory Girl (2006), The Wackiness (2008) and Beastly (2011), and the TV series Weeds and Samantha Who? As adults, the Olsen twins have established themselves as hugely successful fashion designers. They released an Elizabeth and James perfume in 2013.
