Early-life: Ryan Thomas Gosling was born in London, Ontario, on November 12, 1980, the son of Thomas Ray, a travelling salesman, and Donna, a high school teacher. His parents divorced when he was a child and he and his sister, Mandi, lived with their mother. From an early age, Ryan and his sister sang together at weddings and he was involved in a local ballet company. At the age of 12, he moved to Orlando after successfully auditioning for a role as a mouseketeer in Disney Channel's Mickey Mouse Club. Fellow cast members included Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
Career: In 1995, Gosling returned to Canada and appeared in family TV series including Are You Afraid of the Dark, Goosebumps and Breaker High. At the age of 18, he moved to New Zealand to film adventure series Young Hercules. He made his film debut in Remember the Titans (2000) and secured his first lead role in The Believer (2001). His first taste of mainstream success was in The Notebook (2004). Early-life: Carey Hannah Mulligan was born in Westminster, London, on May 28, 1985. Her father is a hotel manager and her mother is a university lecturer. She has an older brother, Owain. Her father's work took her family to Germany when she was three and she was eight when she moved back to England. Her first taste of acting was in the chorus during her brother's school production of The King and I when she was six. Several years later, a dinner event for aspiring actors held by Julian Fellowes and his wife Emma led to Carey catching the attention of a casting assistant. From this, Carey was invited to audition for a role in Pride & Prejudice (2005); she successfully landed the role of Kitty Bennet.
Career: Other TV work followed with roles in Bleak House, The Amazing Mrs Pritchard, Agatha Christie's Marple, Waking the Dead and a standout performance in an episode of Doctor Who. Early-life: Bryan Lee Cranston was born in Canoga Park, California, on March 7, 1956 to Audrey and Joseph. His mother was a radio actress and his father was an actor and a Hollywood producer. When his parents lost their house in a foreclosure, Bryan and his brother went to live with his maternal grandparents, while his sister and mother lived with his father's mother. Bryan went on to earn an associate degree in police science from Los Angeles Valley College in 1976.
Career: Cranston became active in local theatre but his parents had mixed feelings about their son entering the profession. In the 1980s, he began landing guest roles on a number of TV shows, including CHiPs, Loving, Airwolf, Hill Street Blues and Falcon Crest. His career continued to be built on a steady stream of guest roles until his first big break came in 2000 when he landed a recurring role as Hal in the hugely popular sitcom Malcolm in the Middle. Early-life: Oscar Isaac Hernandez Estrada was born on March 9, 1979, in Guatemala. When he was five months old, his family settled in the United States and he was raised in Miami, Florida. His professional acting career started at the Area Stage Company, Miami Beach, when Artistic Director John Rodaz cast him in a play. While living in Miami, he played lead guitar and sang vocals for ska-punk band The Blinking Underdogs, who enjoyed some success including opening for Green Day. He put his music to one side when he was accepted on the acting programme at the Juilliard School in New York City.
Career: Isaac's early TV and film appearances were in crime drama Illtown (1998), action comedy All About the Benjamins (2002) and Law and Order: Criminal Intent. His first major film role was as Joseph in The Nativity Story (2006). He played lead roles in Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), A Most Violent Year (2014) and Ex Machina (2015). Early-life: Christina Rene Hendricks was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on May 3, 1975. Her mother, Jackie Sue, was a psychologist, her father, Robert, worked for the United States Forest Service. Christina has dual UK/US nationality as her father was born in Birmingham. Christina moved a lot because of her father's profession.
Career: Hendricks began acting in children's musical theatre productions in Twin Falls, Idaho. She began her professional career as a model before landing acting jobs in TV series such as Beggars and Choosers, ER, Kevin Hill, Life, and Firefly. Her big break came in 2007 when she was cast as Joan Holloway in acclaimed drama Mad Men. Since then, she has appeared on the big screen in action-thriller Drive.

Early-life: Ronald Francis Perlman was born April 13, 1950 in New York City, New York. He attended George Washington High School, the Lehman College in New York City, where he got the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre, and the University of Minnesota. He graduated from the latter in 1973 as a Master of Fine Arts. Made his TV debut in 1979 series Ryan's Hope. His big screen debut came in acclaimed prehistoric drama Quest For Fire. Perlman paid the rent with projects including The Ice Pirates, The Fall Guy and Miami Vice, before TV series Beauty and the Beast made him a cult star in 1987.
Career: In 1993 he made his first collaboration with director Guillermo del Toro in Cronos, and also became a favourite of director Jean-Pierre Jeunet after starring in The City of Lost Children. The French director also cast him in Alien Resurrection. Re-teamed with del Toro for Blade II, who also cast him as the heroic demon star of Hellboy in 2004. Also starred in a sequel to that hit, and voiced an animated spin-off. Has lent his familiar tones to assorted cartoons and video games over the years, including Batman and Halo 3. In recent years has won a new wave of fans thanks to hit TV series Sons of Anarchy, and the films Drive and Conan the Barbarian. He starred in del Toro's 2013 fantasy epic Pacific Rim.
