Dylan Walsh (Actor) .. Dr Peter Elliot
Born: November 17, 1963 in Los Angeles
Best Known For: Playing Dr Sean McNamara in Nip/Tuck.
Early-life: Born Charles Hunter Walsh in Los Angeles on November 17, 1963. His parents worked in the US Foreign Service, meaning the first 10 years of his childhood were spent in such far-flung places as Africa, Indonesia and India. However, the family eventually settled in Washington DC. Walsh began acting professionally while still at high school, and later studied English at the University of Virginia. His sister, Alison, also eventually became an actor.
Career: After completing his degree, Walsh moved to New York to further his acting career. He made his TV debut in sitcom Kate & Allie in 1987, using the stage name Charlie Walsh. He's also been credited as Charles Hunter Walsh. His first film was 1989's Loverboy, which he followed with Where the Heart Is, Betsy's Wedding, and a regular part in TV series Gabriel's Fire. Supporting roles in Nobody's Fool, Congo, We Were Soldiers, Blood Work, and small-screen drama Brooklyn South raised his profile, but it was Nip/Tuck in 2003 that made him a star, with him remaining in the cast until its conclusion in 2010. He has since appeared in the US TV series Unforgettable.
Quote: "I'm asked all the time what I'd change about myself. I don't want to come off as egotistical, I have the same paranoia that anybody has, but at the end of the day, nothing."
Trivia: In 2005, he was nominated for a Satellite Award for his role in Nip/Tuck.
Laura Linney (Actor) .. Dr Karen Walsh
Born: February 05, 1964 in New York
Best Known For: Her consistently high quality performances.
Early-life: Born Laura Leggett Linney on February 5, 1964, in New York. Her mother was a nurse, her father a playwright - it was his work which initially attracted her to acting. She has a half-sister, Susan, from her dad's second marriage. After graduating from high school in 1982, Linney studied at Northwestern University, then transferred to Brown University, where she became a prolific amateur stage actress. She later had spells studying acting at Juilliard and the Arts Theatre School in Moscow.
Career: Linney's professional career began on Broadway, where she was acclaimed for her work in several productions. She started appearing in small roles in films and on TV in the early 1990s, but began landing bigger parts after the first instalment of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City was broadcast. Movies Primal Fear, The Truman Show and Absolute Power followed. She reunited with the director of Absolute Power, Clint Eastwood, for Mystic River, and bagged Oscar nominations for Kinsey, You Can Count on Me and The Savages. Other notable work includes Love Actually, Frasier, and The Squid and the Whale, while her extraordinary turns in miniseries John Adams and comedy drama The Big C have been widely acclaimed.
Quote: 'A lifetime of work, particularly where you get to see an actor grow and change, is better than becoming a rock 'n' roll movie star.'
