Early-life: Caleb Casey Affleck was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts, on August 12, 1975. He is the younger brother of fellow actor Ben. He attended George Washington University and later transferred to Columbia University in New York but never graduated.
Career: Affleck made his film debut in dark comedy To Die For (1995) and followed this up with box-office flop Race the Sun (1997). He had better luck when he starred with his brother in Chasing Amy (1997) and Good Will Hunting (1997). He went on to star in a string of commercial failures but his fortunes changed when he was part of the ensemble cast in Ocean's Eleven (2001). He reprised his character, Virgil Malloy, in two Ocean's sequels. Affleck's big break came in 2007 when he starred opposite Brad Pitt in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, a role that earned him an Academy Award nomination. Since then, Affleck has starred in The Killer Inside Me (2010), Tower Heist (2011), Out of the Furnace (2013) and Manchester By the Sea (2016).

Best Known For: 12 Years a Slave.
Early-life: Born Chiwetelu Umeadi Ejiofor in London on July 10, 1977, to Nigerian parents. His father was a doctor, and his mother was a pharmacist. His younger sister Zain is a correspondent with CNN. Chiwetel was 11 during a family trip to Nigeria when he and his father were involved in a car crash. His father was killed and Chiwetel received his trademark scars on his forehead. He began acting in school plays at Dulwich College and went on to join the National Youth Theatre. He attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art but left after his first year when he landed a part in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997).
Career: Before Amistad, Chiwetel starred in TV movie Deadly Voyage. The film G:MT - Greenwich Mean Time (1999) was not well received, but his next film, Dirty Pretty Things (2002), led to him winning a number of awards. Since then, he has starred in Twelfth Night (2003), Love Actually (2003), Four Brothers (2005), Serenity (2005), Kinky Boots (2005), American Gangster (2007), 2012 (2009) and Salt (2010). An accomplished stage actor, he won a Laurence Olivier Award in 2008 for playing the lead role in Othello. More recently he played the lead role in the critically acclaimed 12 Years a Slave (2014).

Early-life: Kate Elizabeth Winslet was born on October 5, 1975, in Reading. Acting is in her blood. Both her parents, Roger and Sally, tread the boards, her maternal grandparents ran the Reading Repertory Theatre, and an uncle appeared in the original West End production of Oliver! Kate's two sisters also act; her brother is the only sibling not to enter showbiz. Kate stole the show in a series of plays before the age of 11 and she studied at Maidenhead's Redroofs Theatre School.
Career: Winslet started out on TV, with roles in Casualty and The Dark Season, but it was her film debut in Peter Jackson's acclaimed 1994 drama Heavenly Creatures that set her on the road to success. She gained her first Oscar nod for Sense and Sensibility a year later, and stayed with period pieces for Jude and Hamlet. In 1997 came James Cameron's Titanic, which gained her another Academy Award nomination. Since then, Winslet has featured in an array of films, including Hideous Kinky, Enigma, Iris, The Life of David Gale, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Finding Neverland. Best Known For: His starring role in Cheers and a string of hit movies.
Early-life: Born Woodrick Tracy Harrelson on July 23, 1961, in Midland, Texas, but grew up in Lebanon, Ohio. His father, Charles, has twice been found guilty of committing murder for money - once in 1968, the second time in 1978. He is also believed to have been one of several so-called hobos escorted from the infamous grassy knoll in Dallas immediately after JFK's assassination in 1963. Harrelson gained a degree in theatre arts and English from Hanover College in Indiana before moving to New York.
Career: Harrelson was an understudy for Neil Simon's Biloxi Blues on Broadway and appeared in various small productions before gaining the role of dimwitted barman Woody Boyd in Cheers in 1985. His TV commitments made it difficult for him to gain good movie roles, although he did star in the hit White Men Can't Jump in 1992. When the sitcom finished a year later, he concentrated on films, and has since starred in Indecent Proposal, Natural Born Killers, The People vs Larry Flynt, Welcome to Sarajevo, The Thin Red Line, A Scanner Darkly, No Country for Old Men, The Messenger, Zombieland, 2012 and The Hunger Games movies. In 2014, he starred alongside Matthew McConaughey in HBO crime drama True Detective.

Best Known For: A number of Hollywood movies.
Early-life: Anthony D Mackie was born in New Orleans on September 23, 1978 to Martha and Willie. He studied at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and graduated from the high school drama programme at the North Carolina School of the Arts. He went on to attend the Juilliard School's Drama Division between 1997 and 2001.
Career: Mackie made his film debut in 8 Mile (2002) and his first starring role was in Brother to Brother (2004). In the same year, he played the lead role in Spike Lee's box-office flop She Hates Me and starred in the Oscar-winning movie Million Dollar Baby. He went on to play rapper Tupac Shakur in Notorious (2009) and received critical acclaim for his role in The Hurt Locker (2009). He has successfully made the transition to big-budget Hollywood movies and his recent credits include The Adjustment Bureau (2011), Real Steel (2011), Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012), Gangster Squad (2013), The Fifth Estate (2013), Runner Runner (2013) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014).

Best Known For: Being Wonder Woman and playing Gisele in the Fast & Furious franchise.
Early-life: Gal Gadot-Varsano was born in Rosh HaAyin, Israel, on April 30, 1985 to Irit and Michael. Gal excelled at basketball at school because of her height - she is 5ft 10in. After leaving school, she went on to study law at the Reichman Law School and the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya. As a citizen of Israel, she completed her two years of mandatory military service in the Israel Defense Forces.
Career: Gadot made her film debut as Gisele in Fast & Furious (2009) and reprised the role in Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and Furious 7 (2015). She performed her own stunts in the Fast & Furious movies. Her other film credits include Knight and Day (2010), Kicking Out Shoshana (2014), Triple 9 (2016), Criminal (2016) and Keeping Up with the Joneses (2016). In 2013, she was cast as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). Gadot also plays the Amazon princess and immortal warrior in Wonder Woman (2017) and Justice League (2017). Away from acting, she is the face of Gucci's Bamboo perfume brand.
