Early-life:
Emilio was born in Staten Island, New York, on May 12, 1962, the son of artist Janet Templeton and actor Martin Sheen. He is the brother of actor Charlie Sheen. Emilio lived in Manhattan until his family relocated to Malibu in 1968. He had a small role as an extra in Apocalypse Now (1979) that was cut from the film.
Career:
Estevez appeared in a number of TV movies before making his big-screen debut opposite Matt Dillon in Tex (1982). He went on to star in a run of popular movies such as The Outsiders (1983), Repo Man (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985), St Elmo's Fire (1985), Stakeout (1987) and its sequel, Young Guns (1988) and its sequel, and The Mighty Ducks (1992) and its two sequels. Away from acting, Emilio has also directed a number of projects, including the movies Men at Work (1990), The War at Home (1996), Bobby (2006), and The Way (2010), and TV shows The Guardian, Cold Case CSI: NY, and Numb3rs.
