Best Known For:

Early-life:
Dermot Mulroney was born on October 31, 1963, in Alexandria, Virginia, the son of a lawyer. He has a sister and three brothers, one of whom, Kieran, is also an actor. As a child he was unusually short for his age, and threw himself into after-school activities. He played cello in youth orchestras and appeared in children's community theatre, making his debut in a play called Are Teachers Human? He later attended Northwestern University.
Career:
Mulroney made his TV debut in an episode of Fame in 1986, and starred in a couple of forgettable, low-budget movies the same year. His first big film was 1988's Sunset, alongside Bruce Willis and James Garner, and he followed that with Young Guns, which really got him noticed. Despite appearances in blockbusters such as Bad Girls, How to Make an American Quilt, My Best Friend's Wedding, and About Schmidt, he has concentrated largely on low-budget films and, despite being an accomplished actor, isn't as famous as he perhaps should be.
Quote:
"Ambitions? I don't know. I've found that they only get me into trouble, or disappoint me. So I just go with it."
Trivia:
Away from acting, he plays in a band and co-owns a music club.
