Early-life:
Karl was born in London on December 13, 1952. One of his earliest acting roles came in the British film That'll Be the Day (1973). He also appeared in the sequel Stardust (1974). After making guest appearances in a number of TV shows, he starred in the final series of the sitcom Get Some In! Roles followed in the likes of People Like Us, Blakes 7, Keep It in the Family, Only When I Laugh, A Fine Romance, Minder, and Boon.
Career:
Howman's big break came in 1986 when he was cast as wisecracking house painter Jacko in the popular BBC sitcom Brush Strokes. It ran for five series until 1991. He followed this up with the title role in another sitcom, Mulberry. Since then, he has had small roles in a number of shows, including Babes in the Wood, The Bill, Holby City, The Last Detective, Casualty and Doctors. In November 2014, he joined the cast of EastEnders, playing Buster Briggs.
