Demi Moore (Actor) .. Molly Jensen
Born: November 11, 1962 in Roswell, New Mexico
Best Known For: Being Bruce Willis's ex-wife.
Early-life: Born Demetria Guynes on November 11, 1962, in Roswell, New Mexico. She claims to have had a miserable childhood. Her father left home before she was born, and her stepfather constantly changed jobs, which meant the family moved around 40 times. He was also an alcoholic and committed suicide when Moore was 17, a year after she left school. She worked for a debt collector and did some modelling in Europe before studying acting.
Career: Moore made her movie debut in 1981's Choices, and had a regular part in the soap opera General Hospital for a year. Supporting roles in Blame It on Rio and No Small Affair followed before Brat Pack movie St Elmo's Fire made her a star in 1985. Five years later she was propelled onto Hollywood's A-list by Ghost, and became the first actress to be paid $10million. Big movies since include A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal and Disclosure. She hasn't enjoyed the same level of success for 20 years, although she did produce the Austin Powers movies. More recently she's appeared in Charlie's Angels II: Full Throttle, Mr Brooks and Margin Call.
Quote: "Time is an amazing equalizer. I think if you stay true to yourself and keep moving forward, things come around."
Trivia: In 2009, Moore and Ashton Kutcher launched The Demi and Ashton Foundation, a charity that aims to fight child sexual slavery.
Patrick Swayze (Actor) .. Sam Wheat
Born: August 18, 1952 in Houston, Texas
Best Known For: Dirty Dancing.
Early-life: Patrick Wayne Swayze was born in Houston, Texas, on August 18, 1952, to Jesse and Patsy Swayze. He had a younger brother, Don. A naturally gifted dancer, Patrick studied at Harkness Ballet School, the Joffrey Ballet School, and San Jacinto College. His first professional performance was as a dancer in Disney on Parade. A role in a Broadway production of Grease led to his film debut in 1979 as Ace in Skatetown, USA.
Career: Following small parts in TV movies, Swayze landed a role in Francis Ford Coppola's drama The Outsiders alongside other then unknowns, including Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon and Emilio Estevez. Its success brought him to the attention of other directors. In 1987 he became an overnight global sensation thanks to Dirty Dancing. Road House, Next of Kin, Ghost and Point Break followed, but by the early 1990s, his career had slowed down. His last films included Donnie Darko, Waking Up in Reno, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Keeping Mum, and Powder Blue. Swayze was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in January 2008. A year later, he was hospitalised with pneumonia that was said to be a complication of chemotherapy treatments he had received. He died aged 57 on September 14, 2009.
Quote: "Good-looking people turn me off. Myself included."
Trivia: Swayze was married to actress Lisa Niemi from 1975 until his death in 2009.
Whoopi Goldberg (Actor) .. Oda Mae Brown
Born: November 13, 1955 in New York
Best Known For: Her many starring film roles.
Early-life: Born Caryn Elaine Johnson in New York on November 13, 1955. She was reportedly nicknamed Whoopi after whoopee cushions due to flatulence as a child. The surname Goldberg was adopted for the stage as her mother thought a Jewish-sounding name was more appropriate for a theatrical career. After beating a heroin addiction, Whoopi decided to become an actress, inspired by watching Nichelle Nichols as Uhuru in Star Trek. She worked in a bank, as a bricklayer and in a mortuary while trying to get her career off the ground.
Career: On moving to California in 1974, Whoopi helped found the San Diego Repertory Company and honed her performance skills doing stand-up comedy. She made her movie debut in 1982's Citizen, but became a huge star in Steven Spielberg's acclaimed drama The Color Purple three years later. She has stuck largely to comedies such as Jumping Jack Flash, Sister Act and Monkeybone since, although she has appeared in such dramas as Girl, Interrupted and Boys on the Side. In 1991 she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Ghost. She also had a semi-regular role in Star Trek: The Next Generation and has taken several bit-parts in US sitcoms. She also appears as a regular on American daytime talk show The View. She returned to the stage in 2010 in the musical versions of The Lion King and Sister Act.
Quote: "My family is Jewish, Buddhist, Baptist and Catholic. I don't believe in man-made religions."
Trivia: She is a member of the National Rifle Association.
