Early-life:
Jamie Frank Redknapp was born in Barton on Sea, Hampshire, on June 25, 1973 to Sandra and football manager Harry Redknapp. He has an older brother, Mark. He grew up on the south coast as his father was coaching Bournemouth at the time. He started his footballing career as a youth player at Tottenham Hotspur but turned down their offer of a contract to play for Bournemouth under his father, who was managing the club at the time.
Career:
During an injury-plagued career, Redknapp went on to play for Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton, where he played under his father for a second time. He was capped 17 times by England. He retired from the game in June 2005 at the age of 31 on the advice of medical specialists. Since retiring, Redknapp has established himself as a football pundit. Since 2010, he has been a team captain on comedy panel game A League of Their Own.
