Robert Peston (Presenter)
Best Known For: For being the BBC's business editor.
Early-life: Robert James Kenneth Peston was born on April 25, 1960. He's the son of economist and Labour peer Maurice Peston and his wife Helen. After leaving Highgate Secondary School in Crouch End, London, Robert studied at Oxford's Balliol College and the Universite Libre de Bruxelles. A stint as a stockbroker followed before he embarked on his career as a journalist.
Career: Peston worked for various publications, including Investors Chronicle, The Independent, Sunday Correspondent, Financial Times, The Spectator, the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Times before, in 2005, joining the BBC as its business editor. He's also the founder of Speakers for Schools, which arranges talks for students from experts in various fields. Peston has published numerous books, including Brown's Britain, Who Runs Britain? and How Do We Fix This Mess? He's won various awards; perhaps the most impressive is the Royal Television Society's Television Journalism Award for Scoop of the Year in 2008 for breaking the news of Northern Rock seeking emergency financial help from the Bank of England.
Quote: "In the end it's the job I love - I do love the story."
Trivia: Peston was married to author Sian Busby until her death in 2012 from lung cancer. Later that year he publically appealed for the return of rings that belonged to her which were stolen during a burglary at his Muswell Hill home.
