Early-life:
Mischa Anne Marsden Barton was born in London on January 24, 1986, to an English father and Irish mother. Barton moved to New York with her parents when she was four. She made her acting debut five years later in a theatre production of Slavs! which was followed by many more parts in stage plays. She graduated from Manhattan's Professional Children's School in 2004, and has two sisters, barrister Zoe and singer/actress Hania.
Career:
After a successful stint on the stage, Barton broke into films, and appeared in the award-winning Lawn Dogs with Sam Rockwell in 1997. Since then she's featured in Pups, Notting Hill, The Sixth Sense, and Skipped Parts as well TV series All My Children, Once and Again and, of course, The OC, in which she starred as Marissa Cooper. Her numerous films include The Oh in Ohio, Closing the Ring, Homecoming, St Trinian's, You and I, Bhopal: Prayer for Rain and The Sibling.

Trivia:
In early 2009, at the age of 23, she had her ears pierced for the very first time especially for her role as Sonja Stone in The Beautiful Life: TBL (2009).
