Ant McPartlin (Host)
Born: November 18, 1975 in Newcastle upon Tyne
Best Known For: Being one half of Ant and Dec.
Early-life: Anthony David McPartlin was born on November, 18, 1975, in Newcastle upon Tyne. He became interested in football at an early age and still supports his home-town club - he claims his most treasured possession is a pair of boots signed by Magpies hero Alan Shearer. McPartlin realised he had a gift for entertaining at an early age, and got his big break on BBC children's drama Byker Grove in 1990.
Career: After three years on the CBBC drama, he and co-star Declan Donnelly began a singing career using their Byker Grove character names PJ and Duncan. Following a string of hit singles they landed their own TV series in 1995 using their real names. The BBC's Ant and Dec Show paved the way for Ant and Dec Unzipped on Channel 4. They then helmed ITV's Saturday morning shows SM:TV Live and CD:UK, teaming up with co-host Cat Deeley. Their first family show was BBC One's Friends Like Us, but ITV signed them full-time to front such prime-time shows as Pop Idol, Slap Bang with Ant and Dec, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, PokerFace, Britain's Got Talent, Red or Black and Push the Button. They've won an impressive number of trophies for their work, including numerous National Television Awards. The duo returned to acting in a 2002 tribute to the Likely Lads and in the 2006 film Alien Autopsy. Neither were particularly well-received.
Quote: 'We don't take anything for granted. The day you do is the day you may as well retire.'
Trivia: McPartlin was the subject of an unprovoked attack in a pub in March 2011 when watching a football match.
Dec Donnelly (Host)
Born: September 25, 1975 in Newcastle upon Tyne
Best Known For: Hosting TV shows alongside best pal Ant McPartlin.
Early-life: Declan Joseph Oliver Donnelly was born in Newcastle upon Tyne on September 25, 1975. His parents hail from Ireland. He has three sisters and three brothers and almost followed one of them, Dermott, into the priesthood, but caught the acting bug while still at school. He landed a key role in children's soap Byker Grove in 1989. An original member of the cast, he became highly popular with teen fans - especially when he joined forces with cast member Anthony McPartlin a year later.
Career: Donnelly and McPartlin were snapped up by a record company, first hitting the charts under character names PJ and Duncan. The pair moved on to success as presenters of SM:TV, Friends Like These, Pop Idol, Britain's Got Talent, Red or Black, I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and Saturday Night Takeaway. The duo returned to the music business with the 2002 football anthem We're on the Ball, and in 2013, their most famous single, Let's Get Ready to Rhumble, hit number one. They have also turned their hands to producing, with two series of the celebrity golf show The All-Star Cup to their credit. They made their big-screen debut in the 2006 comedy Alien Autopsy.
Quote: 'You can't base decisions on what people say all the time, you have to go with your gut sometimes.'
Trivia: He upset his neighbours when he paid to have double yellow lines painted outside his house while renovations were carried out at his property. Even after the work was completed, it was two years before his local council removed them.
Simon Cowell (Judge)
Born: October 07, 1959 in Brighton
Best Known For: Being Mr Nasty on Pop Idol, American Idol and The X Factor.
Early-life: Born October 7, 1959, in Brighton. His father, Eric, was an executive at EMI Music Publishing. His brother Tony co-wrote his autobiography and hosted TV show Between the Covers. He had a happy childhood but describes himself as: 'Thick and lazy, but I was ambitious. I only ever wanted to earn money.' After dropping out of school at 16, he worked as a post boy at EMI Records, eventually working his way up through the ranks.
Career: At the age of 29, Cowell was approached to help create the S Records label. Five, Westlife, and Robson and Jerome helped boost his coffers. He later sold his share in the company to BMG for a reported $42million. The brains behind more than 60 million record sales and 25 number one singles became a public figure after appearing as a judge on Pop Idol. The show made Stateside producers sit up and take notice, so when the US version, American Idol, aired, he repeated his success across the pond. Back in the UK, his production company, Syco, is responsible for The X Factor, Britain's Got Talent and Red or Black? He left American Idol in 2010 and launched The X Factor in competition to it in the States a year later. The US version of The X Factor struggled to find a sizable audience and it was cancelled after three seasons. In 2014, Cowell returned to the judging panel of the UK version of The X Factor.
Quote: 'I don't take myself seriously and I don't consider myself a star.'
Trivia: In 2014, he became a father for the first time at the age of 54.
Amanda Holden (Judge)
Born: February 16, 1971 in Bishop's Waltham, Hampshire
Best Known For: Being a judge on Britain's Got Talent.
Early-life: Born Amanda Louise Holden in Bishop's Waltham, Hampshire, on February 16, 1971. She grew up in Southsea, before moving to Bournemouth in her teens. After completing her A-levels she went to Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in north London where she trained for three years. She then made an impression as a contestant on Blind Date in 1991. Her younger sister, Debbie, is a former model who is now a scuba-diving instructor.
Career: Holden's first dramatic role was as a murder victim in the Edward Woodward series In Suspicious Circumstances. Bit parts in EastEnders and the Julie Walters film Intimate Relations (1996) paved the way for larger roles in The Grimleys, Kiss Me Kate, Happy Birthday Shakespeare and other TV dramas, as well as filling in for Judy Finnigan on ITV's This Morning. She also appeared in the Anthony Edwards movie Don't Go Breaking My Heart (1999), steamy miniseries The Hunt and short-lived sitcom Big Top. Arguably her most successful acting projects have been Cutting It and Wild at Heart. She has been on the judging panel of Britain's Got Talent since 2007 and played the role of Princess Fiona in the West End production of Shrek the Musical in 2011. In 2013, she published her autobiography, No Holding Back.
Quote: 'I certainly don't think I would use my looks or anything like that to take advantage of any situation. I don't know why, it's just not in my nature.'
Trivia: Holden is an ambassador for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
Alesha Dixon (Judge)
Born: October 07, 1978 in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
Best Known For: Winning Strictly Come Dancing.
Early-life: Alesha Anjanette Dixon was born in Welwyn Garden City on October 7, 1978. Her mother is British, her father Jamaican, and she has several half-siblings. She had planned to train as a PE teacher at Loughborough University before being approached on a train by a record producer, who asked her if she could sing. She later met Sabrina Washington when they both joined Dance Attic (a popular hip-hop/jazz dance academy in West London), and together they formed the duo Inspiration. They soon became the popular UK garage/R&B girl band, Mis-Teeq.
Career: For five years, Mis-Teeq enjoyed success on both sides of the Atlantic, with huge hits including Scandalous and Roll On. Dixon, with her distinctive voice and stunning looks, was the most popular member of the group, but her attempt to launch a solo career fell flat. Winning Strictly Come Dancing in 2007 turned her into a household name. On the back of her popularity, she released her album The Alesha Show. The official debut single from the album, The Boy Does Nothing, became her first solo top 10 hit. She also took part in a charity climb up Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief. Dixon became a Strictly Judge in 2009, but left three years later to become a judge on Britain's Got Talent.
Quote: 'I make a conscious decision not to vote as I don't trust anybody that runs the country because you give somebody too much power and they let it go to their heads.'
Trivia: Dixon supports a number of animal rights organisations.
